I’m working on a vid of the 1001dx now and man I’d agree…what a hot mess! Got more pins than a Bic factory and jumpers for input sensitivity? Crazy. I can see why installers liked them since they could setup and put on cover and not worry about customer adjusting anything.

Sweet! I have one of these I pulled out of my dads truck after he passed. Thanks for sharing this info. Maybe ill mess with it some day...

The crossover resistor packs were called "SIPs" and were available in different resistances to change the crossover frequency.

I have the x604 and my "passive section" has a board with 2 orange wires. The passive sections makes the channels 2 Ohm vs Ohm if you don't use it. I missed the 4db attenuation module on ebay by a few days. I have a set of Diamond Audio hex600a components. The hex crossovers have a similar passive network as the xtant amps which is pretty cool so I'll use the components and forget about the hard to find module. The fact that you have it is awesome! Great video!

Channels 3 and 4 are passive meaning it’s Taking power off of channels one and two but is attenuated with an optional resistor to cut the sound down to the rear speakers by three or six db depending on the resistor module used. One thing that would instantly blow these amps up is if the installer was trimming wires near the amp they would actually fall onto the traces and blow the amp.

I love the analogy. We have all been let down by a girl or an amp at some point in time. Keep up the great content. I will have to share some photos of my new old school Orion build (SX & HCC Digital Reference).

Hell yea I definitely want to see pictures of your build.

Nice amplifier 👌🏻😎

I had one of these. Was one the best amps ever owned. Was stolen out of my truck within the 2 days wasn't able to activate alarm due to remote got wet and fried

I've been running a 4180C since they came out, and that's a Long time.....NEVER had an Issue....and I'd Never sell it...
@brentb53033 жыл бұрын
That is crazy. They are like the Cadillac 4100ht motor. They are either hated for being garbage or thought of as bullet proof gems. I wonder if it was certain models that had an issue?

Bought a 603x off eBay a while back (more like 1.5-2 years ago) seller said he got it to power up but no sound output. $164 later I get it and test it out, 100% working no issues 😊 About to send it off for a recapping and then an install for the rest of my life! 43 BTW 😂😂😂
@edud84523 жыл бұрын
Very nice👍look like they had the test connection strip at the bottom of the board that they hooked up to burn them in at the factory just like the punch 45,150 hd amps had.
@brentb53033 жыл бұрын
I was wondering what that was. Looks like a cartridge slot from a VIC20 or Commodore 64.😂

@@brentb5303 Yep Eric from Rockford said one time thats what they were for. I've seen some of those xtant amps polished to a mirror finish, they were the only ones to make hexagon subs too ai belive.

When I worked at an Xtant dealer, I swear everyone ever sold came back poofed at some point 😂. Amazing sounded while they lasted.

Your the guy I need to talk to. What is up with the "passive channels".
@thenotoriousrvh60913 жыл бұрын
@@brentb5303 That's been many, many years ago 😂😂 Can't remember that particular amp. Wish I could be of more help. I do think the rear channels are summed off the front and the resistors are use to attenuate them and to help stabilize the impedance. IMO

Exactly ...especially when they were pushed hard lowpass for subs. I bought a new 1001DX it went up in smoke in a month and now they pretty much all need recaps. But best sounding amps i ever heard thou.

I ran the 3150 and my buddy ran the 3300 awesome amps definitely sound quality amps....i then ran an Orion Concept 97.1 amp with a 97.2 30 band EQ. Sound quality and SPL....97.1 was silver amp 50x2 XTR250 for high-end and 25x2 HCCA225 amp for bass (bridge 2 8ohm DVC XTR 12in subs series parallel at 1/2 ohm stable 475 watts to subs) focal speakers for highend

I ran Xtant when they worked they sounded very good my x1001 died first went up in smoke then a short time later my x604 went horrible crossover sip chips and the stainless covers just rattled all time
@brentb53033 жыл бұрын
That's what I've read. I hadn't heard about the shroud rattle but I can see how that could be an issue. I just had to have one of these.🤦♂️ Hopefully it works long enough to compare to some other old school SQ amps I have.
@frankmaggio43283 жыл бұрын
I have a x604. Currently using the rear channels for the sub. Using the SIP 90hz card. Connected the L + R - for a mono signal. I used the left gain as gain knob. Guessing since I couldn't find the manual to it. Do you recall if the x604 in mono used left gain only or both gains L & R are used. I know it seems like a dumb question but this amp is weird. I havent tried to out the shroud on yet since I have to make the little mounting towers out of aluminum for the shroud to bolt to. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

What's the rms? I had 2 type r with this amp. It hit so hard and almost blow them.
@jrossman47032 жыл бұрын
Alright man, it's been about a year or so lol.
@aracelyaguilar48442 жыл бұрын
If you ran them on subs hard at lowpass and under 2 ohm mono they would blow up guaranteed. If you wanted them to last youd have to run them at 4 ohm bridged even though theyd do 2 ohm.
