The cable it came with is USB A to C? That's what it appeared to be. I'm confused about why you needed the separate wall plug. Is it for additional voltage? Sorry, I'm not the most knowledgeable dude around when it comes to charge cables. I only know the basics.

If you have a Type C device, most likely your phone charger will be 2.4Amps or better. This charger draws 2Amps when running all four bays. I didn't own a USB power block that could deliver that power so I purchased the XTAR 18W one, which provides up to 3Amps at 5volts, and works with a variety of their chargers..I have plans on reviewing more. If you want something simple, stay tuned, I have a nice two bay charger review coming up from XTAR that uses a simple AC cord connection with no power brick. That model also has an optional use, micro usb 2.1amp input for going mobile.

I've got a xtar vc4 and it's great. Wish it had an option to charge at a lower current for aaa/10440's but I have a nitecore d2 for those. Xtar makes good stuff at a good price.

That is cool, I like their VC8 which can be set to .25A for charging the smaller batteries. Does the NiteCore go lower? .150A would be ideal.

Do you know of any 2-3 bay chargers like this that can charge Nimh and Li-ion? I'm looking for something a little more compact for hiking and SHTF. Great review btw

Couldn't find anything from XTAR in a two cell USB charger that works as well as this four bay does. This charger does have a very small footprint.

You have to buy a separate adapter just to use the unit not worth it. There's plenty of other chargers that don't make you buy a special adapter just to use it. Don't like, won't buy. Thanks for sharing. Good to know there's things I don't want to get stuck with

The key to this charger is if you had the Type C power adapter already. I didn't and plan to purchase more of their chargers for review.

Doesn't work with Ni-MH. Goes red->green in a minute or two.
