A thrilled lap chasing Erik in his 718 GT4 RS nearly ended in an absolute disaster. The GT4 RS and a Ducati Panigale nearly crashed at over 180 km/h right in front of me 🙈 Thanks to God nobody was hurt and they could shake hands after the lap. Happy 2nd Birthday!! Pure Fun and the worst case are sometimes pretty close together 🙏🏼 Stay safe!!

@@petercrombie6652 it was a misunderstanding.. a couple of seconds I also interpreted the reaction and movements of the biker that he saw us .. moving his head like checking the mirror .. then braking and going on the right like he saw us to let us overtake … the next second it was clear that he didn’t check the mirror 🤷🏽‍♂️

​@@traceofmaze Was für ein Rennen? Die fahren einfach einen 2er Train und das Motorrad ist halt deutlich langsamer. Klar musst du als Überholender sicherstellen, dass es sicher ist. Aber dafür hat man Spiegel und wenn da plötzlich zwei Porsche hinter einem sind, die da vorher noch nicht waren und man geht voll nach rechts, dann muss man halt davon ausgehen, dass die vorbei gehen.

One needs to rewind even further till you get to the last car the two Porsches passed before getting to the biker. The biker just passed the car and most probably that was the last time he checked his mirrors. Just after he passed the car he obviously thought that no car was behind him, so he could bomb it down the last part of the relatively fast section, without realising that he just missed seeing the yellow RS coming at him at a rapid rate of knots off in the distance and thus he was using the whole road, not knowing he's going to be passed. Hats off to the yellow RS for evading and taking to the grass. Great control on the bikers' part for not just falling off his bike from being startled. It's good they shook hands afterwards and that a lesson could be learned by all.

As a biker on the Nordschleife, I actually see the fault more with the motorcyclist. The Porsche driver reacted extremely well, but could perhaps have been a little more patient. The biker could have been more attentive and not let himself drift out so far.

As a biker if you are riding at speed you know the only path the bike goes is outside inside, outside. A bike literally cannot turn in while exiting a corner. The physics don't allow it. If you brake you'll stand up more pushing you out. The only thing you can do is follow your line. The porsche driver should have waited for a better place to pass, like a half a second later when the bike would have yeilded after exiting the corner.

Most motorcyclists don't look enough in the rear-view mirror or don't look at all. And he definitely pulls out too far, even for the ideal line. It looks as he is setting the apex too early and the Porsche sees this as an overtaking confirmation

@@DerMopedTyp We all have varied levels of riding and you do have a point, but watching the speed that they caught him and the points the rider was at on track were pretty technical hi speed sections with a lot of undulations and as riders we Go where we look (Target fixation) and as we all know the faster we go the harder it gets to make a bike turn, I just believe the rider won’t have had a chance to check mirrors in time of even if he did he might not have seen them, I do believe the problem is most drivers have little to no understanding of what it’s like to ride a bike and because of this , things like this are bound to happen but if you watch my lap of Me years ago in my M3 look how much i back off for all cars / bikes i make sure i’m passing everyone at a reduced speed and don’t even try unless i’m certain they have seen me and although i aren’t the most patient of people safety of others does always come first, i go back to what i’ve already mentioned on my other comments The driver of the Porsche was been very aggressive the whole lap and actually he was lucky that all the cars he passed saw him coming because there was points it could have gone very badly and also It’s a TF day not a track day or Real racing we all have to remember it’s a Toll Road, That sort of driving is for Racing and championships and battling for points and trophies not for Tourist Days IMO ✊🏻💥💨

That works for the road as well. All drivers should be required to complete a year on a bike before being allowed on 4 wheels. That would create an understanding of single track and dual track vehicles.

As i've said : i'm 100% with Tom (Schütze) on this one : bikes and cars shouldn't be allowed together on the Nordschleife. The rules about driving on the Nordschleife during touristenfahrten conditions are clear and unambiguous. You should always drive on the right, as if there were 2 lanes, only going to the left "lane" to overtake. You can use all the tarmac width and drive racing-like trajectories: outside-apex-outside when there are no vehicules coming behind you. The biker should have made sure that there was no traffic coming behind before comiting to such trajectories.

​@@gamegod7856 They are whether clear nor unambiguous regarding on which side you have to drive. You do not even provide a source. There are no 2 lanes, it´s one way and no autobahn. All the "Rechtsfahrgebot" section in the Nordschleife rules page means, that you have to overtake left. When a person makes this up by his own and rely on it so he can drive like there is no tomorrow, this person should be banned from the ring. Also reading a wiki entry regarding the "Rechtsfahrgebot" is not enough. You really should provide a source because I googled a bit and there was no "you have to drive right" anywhere. I understand, that the way, people drive on the ring screams for 2 virtual lanes and I agree that the biker should have checked mirrors to save his live before driving to the left but I do not think he was false from a laws perspective. All in all that means, that people have to care about each other also on the ring and I think the yellow Porsche did care so he was able to drive to the left and even on the grass. Just my 2ct.

You cannot reward a bad pass. Yellow rs driver was being way too aggressive at multiple points like when that series of 3 cars yielded for that left turn and the rs driver darts right behind the yielding car to get all of the racing line instead of sticking to the passing line, the inside line. and if he was such a great driver he wouldn't have been braking excessively and xthilo would not have kept up.

I think bikers often underestimate the cornering and braking abilities of a car. In my younger years I had a really awesome but stupidly dangerous drive on public roads with my lousy 125HP diesel car (but with sporty suspension/tires) "against" a more powerful naked bike through twisty backroads. Even when he pulled away on short straights I got him a corner later. He wasn't absolutely pushing the limits but not holding back either.

At 7:32 the driver can see the bike, but it's extremely clear that he's already committed to getting past, no matter what. I'd love to do a lap here, on my bike, but without drivers like this on it at the same time. Just the idea of a race track that allows both cars and bikes on it at the same time is just asking for trouble. Glad they both shook hands afterwards 👍

The last two days were „bike only Trackdays“ .. I would recommend something like that for the Ring .. o had some very very cool laps together with fast bikers … but in most cases it just don’t fit

Everything happened just like in 10-15 seconds. Porsche was in bike's mirror like in 7:30 and incident happened in 7:42 . There was enough time to check mirrors. I believe that Porsche driver assumed that bike was aware of him/her which is a misjudgement. Biker also wasn't aware of the surrounding traffic. Common mistakes in TF in both ways. Luckily no accidents and everyone is safe. 🙏🏻

Bike was not blinking to the right...the corner before he used all the race track, so it was predictable that he going to to that ... people saying he should have seen the Porsche, have never riden a motorcycle at a race track... There are many reasons why motorcycles are not allowed to use the mirros on trackdays, the most important one, is because it distract s you a lot, and you might crash... Anyway, if I was riding the bike, i would definitely try to watch the mirrors... because if something happens, the biker will be on worsen end. I can see how this would happen. Putting myself in both people's shoes and rewatching a few times. The Porsche was looking for an opportunity to pass and he saw a gap. He took it. The problem is the Porsche expected the bike to be able to turn and give room like a car, but the bike was already on his trajectory and given his lean and everything else needed the space in that opening. The Porsche thought he had plenty of room, but didn't consider the vehicle he was passing, their momentum, and their trajectory. The bike also should have seen the bright yellow Porsche on his tail and given him a lane to make his move, but didn't. Both are equally at fault in my opinion. Emotions are high. You could argue for either side justifiably. The sport is dangerous. We all know this. Taking part is acknowledging the risk that this (or worse) can happen.

i think even if the biker might have not checked his mirros enough, the porsche was way too pushy towards the biker. It might have been "ok" (not really) with another car, but a biker, you keep a healthy distance and that particular part of the track is extremely fast and there is no room for error basically. So i say its on the Porsche.

Was that a normal racing line for the motorcycle? I can understand why the driver went for the overtake, and even if it wasnt a public day, thats still huge risk factor overtake. Also, Xilox racing lines are like butter compared to the yellow porsche. I bet his tires did not appreciate it, hahaha. Good stuff man! There are no racing lines in TF. For insurance purposes its a 2 lane, one way toll road. In Germany you should be in the right hand lane unless overtaking, and you should not pull into the left lane without checking mirrors and indicating. That said, the yellow Porsche driver was at fault for assuming the bike had seen him and was consenting to the overtake. The biker should not have swapped lanes without checking mirrors. So this is definitely 50:50 but its a game people can pay with their lives. Theres no prizes awarded for TF and everyone has paid the same for the lap. Just my $2 anyway

@@rootless3339 there are no driving line or racing lines during TF, only on closed circuit trackdays or races. If an accident occurs, police will investigate and apportion blame accordingly. The main issue is that once again, someone has nearly died because irresponsible drivers are chasing some imaginary laptime during public TF sessions. If you play with feathers you're gonna get your arse tickled eventually

On TF you have to stay on the right side as long as there js noone behind. If you want to drive racing line you have to be sure there is noone who wants to overtake or go for a track day with its own driving rules.

Of course the GT4 driver was too impatient and had clouded risk assessment. But…. Riding that slowly will mean CONSTANTLY being caught an passed, so you have to keep right, or live in your mirrors and shoulder checks. Glad all made it home in one piece 👍🏻

Was it really? I agree that overtaking there is not the best option, but the bike clearly and intentionally moves from the left side to the right side. This to me clearly shows an intent to let the faster car go by. When both vehicles are side by side the bike moves in the other direction. Accident was avoided by the evasive maneuver of the car driver.

its not that easy ;-) it was a misunderstanding from both .. as overtaker you have always make sure that the biker in front of you saw you coming .. it looked like that but it was not the case - luckily everybody was fine 🤞

So what clear intent are you talking about? The bike was taking his racing line (or at least what he thought the best line is). Nothing was clear here and the smart thing to do in this situation is to take it easy because it's the safe option. They're not racing ffs.

It's not really a matter of whether it's a 'perfect' line or not... the bike was coming out of a right-hander and therefore passed the apex and moved out to the left. That it normal enough. I'm not sure where the GT4 expected the bike to be or to go, but physics dictates that he was going to be roughly where the GT4 then decided to position himself when he tried to take him round the outside. And no, he wasn't 'going on the grass if the car wasn't there' by any stretch. He braked when the car nearly hit him (plus panicked understandably) and this causes the bike to straighten and run wide. Have you ever ridden a bike on a track?

I'm not a Nordschliefe racer, but I do drive Porsche and understand where the yellow GT4's head was at - the Ducati driver was on the inside line for the turn and appeared to yield for the overtake before coming back over forcing the GT4 to take his line off-track to avoid collision. Good on the GT4 for avoiding but needs patience for amateur days, Ducati needs to check his mirrors!! Also, good on you cam car - you have superior pace and line.

Selbst auf einem trackday wird nicht alles riskiert Am ende stellt euch jetzt eine frage: Hätte der auch so überholt wenn dort statt Motorrad ein auto gewesen wäre? Richtig nein damit ist die Antwort auf der Hand. Ob der biker das Auto gesehen hat oder nicht riskiert selbst zuviel nutzt aber die volle breite genauso wie die zwei hinter ihm auch Vergessen wird oft auch das dort leute sind die das erste mal auf dem ring sind. I ride, my opinion if you're racing on a bike and you know there's cars much faster than you then you're responsible for track awareness and knowing where you're at and how you'll drift and whether you'll be in someone's way. This rider wasn't paying attention and was riding like was the only thing on the road. He was very surprised which tells me he had no idea those two cars were behind him and that's irresponsible by him. There's two cars coming up on him not just one. So that tells me he paid zero attention about anyone behind him. He was using the entire road and that's wrong without checking first. He never glanced, had he those two cars would've been easily seen and he would've known they were going much faster because they wouldn't have been in his mirror prior to looking. He's lucky the porsche put his car in the grass. Bikers fault, 90%. The Porsche was 10% at fault for not realizing the biker was a moron.

Just because you should drive at the right side, its not a permission for faster cars to overtake everywhere - its just selfish at this part of the track to overtake just for the love of BTG (and everywhere else too). Everyone knows this section is really fast, small and bumpy. The car behind is responsible , never the car in front. This rule also applies to track days. If you want to fight, go for a real race.

Oh man oh man, gut das nichts passiert ist, am besten immer ordentlich lichthupe geben vor dem überholen wenn man deutlich schneller unterwegs ist, ich fahre selber ab und zu bin aber auch anfänger, manchmal guckste 10 sek nicht im spiegel weil dich auf die strecke konzentrierst und dann saust da einer mit n affentempo an dir vorbei :D ist nicht immer einfach sich auf alles zu konzentriert , grad wenn man die stecke noch nicht ganz so gut auswendig kennt, aber sehe hier auch eher die schuld an dem biker, obwohl ich selber fahre, aber anderseits hätte der porsche auch noch kurz warten können, sind halt keine trackdays sondern touristenfahrten... das sollte man nicht vergessen

You can tell that most people who think this was the bikers fault & talking about checking mirrors have blatantly never ridden a bike in there life!!! Riding a bike and making a bike turn at them Speeds requires a lot of body input and at the speeds you need to look where you want to be !!! That biker will have had no idea the car was there!! Riding a bike is a lot harder than Driving a car !!!! in my opinion the driver did not understand bike lines and mistook the biker pulling in tight to apex as a green light to pass but here is the problem, unless you see indicators and are completely sure the person in front has seen you you do not pass! this i’m guessing was a tourist day The yellow porsche was being aggressive with all his overtakes and driving like that on a TF day will get someone hurt or killed eventually!! Stop Racing on TF days and actually go racing properly don’t forget this is a Public Road / Toll road 👍🏻

Das stimmt so nicht. Auf einem Motorrad bist Du körperlich viel mehr gefordert, als im Auto und Deine Sicht nach hinten ist recht begrenzt - überhaupt nicht mit einem Auto vergleichbar. @@xthilox Brother love your vids but trying to pass a bike on the outside of a corner exit? Getting pushed off is imminent. The biker can't change his course especially if he's getting all of the track. If he tries to turn in more he loses the front or upsets the bike all of which puts him on the ground. You have to yield for the bike.

In the middle of the switch backs? Or exactly where he did after navigating high speed twisties waving his fist in discust.
