Thanks so much for uploading this. I had this on cassette when I was a child and have been looking for it for years. Brought a tear to my eye to hear it again. I went on a kind of pilgrimage a couple of years ago to Skye - to Dunvagan Castle, and stood in front of a real fairy flag... it's still there, on display.

I got a book on the Macleod I read l when the MacLeod retreated to Dunvegan and summoned the fairy flag The flag was waved at the MacDonalds who immediately fell under the spell of imagining they were vastly outnumbered.They turned to flee and many were killed trying to reach their boats

Could someone please tell me what tune that is? I used to listen to the storytellers as a very little girl, and still remember this one story with delight.

I don't know where you got your fable from, but you got it wrong on how we came across the flag and one of the uses was to save a chieftain that was ill and on his deathbed, on the 2nd calling... we came across the flag by helping the faeries when they were being slaughtered by wild beasts and birds that used to eat them and we gave shelter. protecting them.... and that is why they help to protect us! It is also the Isle of Skye... thanks for the great video nonetheless! I appreciate the interest, as a MacLeod of Canada.. 8D

The thing about this legend is.......the flag is actually in Dunvegan Castle, you can go and see it!! It's in tatters but it's mystery still holds it together.......*

As a MacLeod I think the last wish should be used, so we don't "exploit" the will of the faeries, leaving them waiting on us! I think it should be used ON the faeries wishing them eternal life & safety, while that may be a given, I also think an appropriate use would be to Free Palestine!... Greed or self preservation should not be used for the 3rd wish, it should be a selfless act... for others! All MacLeods should be welcomed at the last waving of the flag to wish the faeries all the best from ALL of US! Together we will let the music & drink flow with dancing and games for a fort-night inviting all in the land, especially the MacDonalds!

How wide is the belief in fairies in Scotland? I know it's common in Ireland too and maybe Wales to an extent.
@moviezaftermidnight634810 ай бұрын
@@dlk1dlk1 I believe Faeries were just small people who banded together for strength in numbers. They sought protection where they found it on Isle of Skye
