So exciting to hear this, as I/We were looking into DTF earlier in the year and set it aside to learn more. I already have a D1 XTool, so I know the company well.

That's great to hear! It's nice to see an established company like xTool entering the DTF market.

What if they make a UV printer so we can print directly on acrylic signs 🙏🙏

I dream for this day. The prices on UV printers are even more outrageous than DTF printers. We need a disrupter and hopefully this is one of the other 6 products Xtool wants to realize this year.

@@grafxbynando_vlogs I'd buy it so fast, i trust Xtool and like their system. UV printers are so expensive and hard to up keep due to clogged ink lines.

Once i heard that the print heads are Epson they have my attention. Only concern is the ink cost. I may consider it after i recover from my next purchase, the Omni1

Yes, DTF ink can be a bit pricey, but it isn’t in xTool’s best interest to gouge everyone on the price. Like the PET film, if they mess up the pricing, someone else is going to start under-cutting them on price

I thought it was a printer that prints actual clothes, my god if that would be revolutionary

But the $3999, does not include the oven! I didn't see the oven cost did you?

Correct, there are still a few unknowns, but I’m digging to find answers and I’ll let everyone know if/when I get details.

Well, it's really up to xTool to impress us. They claim they will, but now we wait until someone can get their hands on one. What I like is that they are consolidating this into the XCS ecosystem, so I wouldn't have to learn yet another tool. Lightburn and XCS are quite enough to know for lasers, and now I can printer knowledge without more learning investment.

$4,000 dollars isn't cost prohibitive?!? Ok, yeah, I did just drop that on my new Omni 1 UV laser, but there are a lot of other options coming out, Procolored for one, that are much cheaper.
@SteveMakesEverything
@SteveMakesEverything 11 күн бұрын
I looked at the new Procolored. It’s appealing for the price, but isn’t a one step system and is only 8 or 13”. It is/was on my short list for purchase though.

Myself i just Pre-ordered the K13 and with the oven it is much cheaper. I love xtool but Procolored has been around dtf for sometime, not to say xtools machine will not be good but it is far more expensive

@@Spirited282@ Spirited282 Let me know how it works, though I'm sure it will be a sweet machine. I'd certainly love to cover one on the channel, so I may have to pick one up myself. I'm not too worried about the experience of any DTF printer company since almost all of them use the same head and electronics from Epson. Pretty hard to screw it up when all the work is already done for you. 😉

Have you done a total cost of ownership and compared it to using a economical dedicated t-shirt printing company? I'd imagine it's possible that it's never cheaper?
@SteveMakesEverything
@SteveMakesEverything 10 күн бұрын
Not yet because no one has gotten their hands on one of these yet. However in the FAQ on xTools site they provide some math related to the payback period for this printer. Clearly that will be biased in xTool’s favor but it’s a start. I suspect that the addition of related costs like shipping would probably lean to the benefit of owning your own printer rather than outsourcing it, but commercial shirt companies work in much larger volumes that may offset this.

As always when spending $4000, I’m a bit of a skeptic so I’d like to get my hands on one to see if it’s really worth the cost. xTool does have a great reputation for build with great quality and has a history of disrupting markets, so I’m hopeful.

The Procolored K8 and K13 have the same or even better features for about half the price. Sure it is 14in, only 1in wider than the Procolored K13. FYI, your expectations about printing on other substrates besides a cloth type of material isn’t realistic. Also you will be still wasting ink with auto head cleaning, as the purged ink goes into a waste canister. I would suggest educating yourself a little bit better before posting a sneak peek video.

I've looked pretty extensively at the K13 because I was going to buy one, and I would be happy to work with Procolored if they were interested. The only place I see a potential "better" feature on he K13 is the resolution at 1440x1440 rather than 720x1440 on the xTool. The new K13 that's headed into Kickstarter is more focused on improving what they already have rather than driving any sort of new innovation. And they are definitely priced right, though price isn't almost never an indicator of who wins a market - just look at Apple. They charge a lot more than anyone else, but they are building an eco-system rather than a nomadic product - that's exactly what xTool is doing, and as a result, they have 39% of the laser market last time I checked, which is an oddly similar number to Apple's. I've also spoken to xTool quite a bit about their printer, so I'll ignore your education comment. I realize that cleaning will use ink (duh!), but the real benefit of the xTool is that I don't have to pay attention to it. So if I don't use my printer for a couple of days I won't have to spend an hour cleaning the head. Having spoken to a few people in the business, it is absolutely possible to do different substrates. You just need to use the right powder (course powder works for something like wood). Not saying I'm going to do it today, but it's something I've asked xTool about, and they haven't said no yet. Personally, I don't care about individual features or whose name is on the front of the box. I care only about a tool doing a job that simplifies my life rather than complicating it, and since neither the K13 nor the xTool printer exist yet, I am still unconvinced that either will achieve that goal.

The other comparable printers I've been shopping for at $2K+ more than one and don't have as much capability as this one. This isn't a hobby printer - it's a small business printer. For hobbyists, you can just grab an Epson eco-tank for $500 and use sublimation ink.
