Can the cameras be adjusted so that the wide angle camera is more exact?

Thanks for the video! Do you think I can design a jig for the xTool P2 to engrave 100 pencils in a batch without recalibrating with the camera or realigning the vector files between batches? Do you think the repeatability of the laser will allow a jig like this?

Hello, I think it would work well for that. Eventually I would like to do the same thing. I think if you clamped down the jig so it doesn't move. You could get things lined up with the camera and just swap out the pencil from the jig and run batch after batch.

@@chaddiy3512 That’s great! Thinking of taking the plunge soon on a P2.

Hi there, thanks for video! I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. When lining up an image from the software program on the camera over the material selected for the laser cutter cannot image be moved in circular motion as well as up and down left to right? Not sure if that makes sense, but I’d like to be cut at a different angle than just how it appears in the software. Could I take a heart and shift it on its side?

Hello, if you check out this link around the 12 minute point. I show how to do what you are talking about I believe. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2ikqal_iM-MlZo

I've just engraved my name on a round toothpick using the camera. To say I was impressed is an understatement. :)

Yeah, it really is amazing what this machine with the camera can do!

Is there a way to detect objects and cut them out precisely? I'm looking to cut out embroidery patches but want to make sure it can autodetect edges of objects

Hello, yes the P2 camera system will take a picture of anything you place in the machine. Then in the software you can line everything up perfectly. It really is a great machine!

I have been trying to engrave pencils. cut jig out of cardboard to keep the pencils upright and square. Created text, 9pt, placed the text on the pencils using up close view camera. The prints were close but not right on....usually high.....this is a neat way to place images but far from precise. Also tried placing pencils in randomly and using the precise fill feature. This didn't work well at all. It had trouble seeing the pencils. I even put down black paper and put the pencils on it. It put names everwhere except on the pencils. At this point I have to say the regular camera (even when zoomed in) is not great at all for precise placement. The close view camera is not perfect but better. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the comment. I can see the smart fill feature not working well on pencils. I think it does a better job a wider objects...and even then, you might have to adjust it a bit on certain ones. For me, pencils can be a bit tricky to do in bigger batches, There is not a whole lot a margin for error, even with a jig. I am not sure how many you are trying to do at one time, but I would try a jig with 5 pencils close together. and go from there. Good luck. It is a great machine, but there is some tweaking and a learning curve that goes with it.
