Daily Xtra sat down with Taylor Schilling during TIFF to talk about her role as Piper Kerman in Netflix's smash-hit Orange is the New Black. In this exclusive interview, Schilling talks about her nude scenes, lesbianism, Laura Prepon and what it was like to be directed by Jodie Foster.

The interviewer is really stupid but Taylor handled herself well. It was so annoying when the interviewer kept bringing up the "lesbian thing" just to get gossip, but Taylor was extremely articulate and intellectual and actually went deeper into the storylines and avoided silly generalizations. She's really awesome and I can't wait for Season 2 :).

Donna Brooks Actually after rewatching the interview let me explain myself. When i said "wtf is this interviewer talking about" I was moreso referring to how he asked that particular question after he kept emphasizing on the homosexuality in the show as if that's something sooo "out of this world" for an actor to take on as part of a script, and I feel like he just kept bringing up that subject and trying to get more out of her when she had already said it's not that it's a LESBIAN scene, it's that it's a love scene. it's not that they're LESBIAN and TRANS characters, it's that they're INDIVIDUAL characters all with their own stories that really tear them apart from that generalization. So after he kept focusing on that aspect, asking if it was different to be directed by a woman than a man just made me think "come on now, enough with the gender stuff" which actually might sound offensive but I thought that because if you're going to focus on the LGBT aspect of the show, I believe you shouldn't narrow it down in a way that makes it seem like it's odd or overwhelming to work with the fact that characters in the show are lesbian/trans/bi/etc. But you know what, you're right, that IS an interesting question. It was the the context he put it in (at least from how I interpreted it) that made me roll my eyes and wonder if he was even really sure what he was talking about or if he was just trying to get fluff out of this interview or the majority of the interview. i still think most of the questions he asked were unnecessary but you're right, that particular question wasn't. However, had he approached it differently I wouldn't have thought it unnecessary or irrelevant. still, all just my opinion.

Not really sure why everyone is hating on the interviewer. Homosexuality is still a controversial issue today, so he's asking legitimate questions about her take on things. I don't see what's wrong with asking how she felt being in a show that brings out lesbianism. You don't know if it was something new to her or not, or if she developed a new perspective. So of course, I'd be curious too. Don't turn it into something else when it isn't. Besides that, she is GORGEOUS!!!

Hey DailyXtra just a question about "all the lesbian stuff"…lets say that the show took place in a christian church and it was talking about the relationship of the straight couples that go to church…would you ask her about all "that straight stuff"…she is an actress, she can't be disgusted by lesbian scenes like you are, if she is professional and if the character is rich she will do it regardless..but she gave you a great answer she also doesn't see as "lesbian stuff" but a love story.

They wont discuss that, because they want people to still watch OITNB. An while it sucks that she may very well NOT be back on the set of OITNB. I want to see what happens to Piper now that she beat the shit out of Pennsatucky, and if Pennsatucky gets her new teeth now, and what happens with Red and Daya and Bennet.
