I love how detailed this is! Having every little step will really help when installing the hood. Not all contractors are this careful when doing the job - very impressive! I feel like it'll be easier than I thought to install the range hood as long as I have the steps in this video to follow.

Thanks. I am encouraged to do the install with some help here. My stove is up against a short wall between the living room and kitchen. I will have to build a new wall down from the ceiling to hold a wall mount hood. I understand that the hood should be around 26" above the stove top. That will really leave only a small space open. Would it be safe to have the upper wall come down only as far as the top of the hood, as far as the base of the funnel. I have considered an island mount, but they are a lot more expensive.

Vital P.-Then that when the hard part comes in, u will have to open up the wall, and cut two to three pcs. of 2 by 4, and nail/drill the nail, in the already 2x4 and make another Stud, and replace the dry wall /putty/dry/sand/paint/etc. and use that as ur main stud. Type ur question into you tube and a video will pop up and show u how to do it, don't make the question to long, or it will not work.....smdh

I'm still confused on one thing. I hope someone can help. My hood fan came with two extra chimneys. One is solid and the 2nd one has like a grate pattern at the top. If my ceiling does not have enough height for both, do I still have to install both (one inside the other)? Or can I just install one of the two? Likely the one with the grate pattern, for airflow...

@fredmethot61168 жыл бұрын
I thought it wasn't recommended to use long section of flex tube for oven hoods as the grease supposedly stick to the sides a lot more than smooth solid duct? Also, if my current hood uses square (rectangle) duct all the way to the rooftop, is there any kind of square to round duct joint that I can safely use without diminishing the PCM rating of that hood? Thanks!
@XtremeAirUsa8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the questions! The stainless steel baffle filters trap the grease so it never makes it to the ducting. Just make sure to clean the filters regularly; we recommend at least every 30 hours of fan use. Solid ducting is preferred, but most customers have to make turns in the ducting so flexible is easier to run. As far as connecting the vent on the range hood to your existing ducting you would have to purchase an adapter similar to this: goo.gl/qeXOK2 the specific one depends on the size of your ducting. Depending on the range hood you get and the size of your rectangular ducting it is likely you will lose suction.

hi, I have a question for xtremairusa. you looked up for the stud for the bottom screws, however the upper attachment is the one taking the load of the hood. What happens if there is no stud or other solid backing at the level of the upper screws?? Thanks
@XtremeAirUsa10 жыл бұрын
Hi there, it's a great question. As you said "the upper attachment is the one taking the load of the hood". This wall mount hood installation, we dont have to worry whether we can find the stud or other solid backing since the screws though the back of the hood will handle the load instead of the upper. Therefore, the upper screw will be come just a secondary instead of primary holding. thank for your comments.

He shows the measuring process for cutting off the chimney as measured to the ceiling, says to add 4" and then doesn't show the cutting process and the pre-positioned screw holes are still in the top of the chimney to use to secure it against the top wall bracket. I know I wouldn't want to make the cut down at the joint where it would show - it's impossible to get a perfect cut with metal cutting shears without any crinkling or distortion of the cut edges - so what am I missing? Right now I'm figuring I'll have to make my cut to fit against the ceiling and drill my own screw holes, and then wrap it at the top with some wood stop material as a small crown mold to make a good finish.

was is the estimate cost for a professional to do that
@XtremeAirUsa8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. We do not offer installation so we could not give you an estimate. We can tell you that it depends on your home. If you already have the ducting run (and venting out of the roof or through and exterior wall) and a cap in the end there will be less work to do. If ducting has to been run, especially if it is not straight up and out through the roof, it will be more. We would suggest looking up local appliance installers or contractors in your area. www.angieslist.com is a good place to try since service providers should have ratings from past customers/
