Xu Xin is the nightmare of every defensive player. Penholders are naturally more comfortable with defensive players.

Xu Xin is in one of his best forms, his forehand and backhand has improved remarkably. He absolutely toyed with Ma Te this game. It would be interesting to see how the final turns out. Hopefully Ma Long gets in more practice to get more consistent, would love to see them in doubles for the last platinum and world tour, as well as see Ma Long wreck havoc in the grand finals.

Taha Siddiqui ma long is quite consistent he just struggled mentally in that match with Liam.

I'm pretty sure the same thing is happening to Ma Long as Wang Hao, since he is a father now he has other things to take care of. He's already won everything, been there, done that, I think he has other things on his mind now and we can expect a low performance up until maybe the next Olympics or WTTTC if he is still playing then

Colin Bilzerian that's the only thing he or Zhang Jike haven't done is double grand slam. I'm not sure if Zhang will make it that far but ma definitely wants to do it.

Because of the controversial fault by the ref. it changed the outcome of the game, especially mentally for ma long. I feel bad men.

Never seen Xu Xin so relaxed. Even when the score sometimes got tight, he had so much confidence he was going to win. He could ratchet the spin and speed up any time he desired to the level he knew Ma Te couldn’t handle. Did he even sweat?

It's always a delight to watch XX playing ping pong. His peculiar style cumulative to the fact he is a penholder, and left handed has probably a lot to do with it. Anyway, congrats to have won and take your revenge !

Unlike the ones I have seen till now, Ma Te has got a special defensive play, which only is lacking against his buddies from china. Ma Te in all his previous games in the tournament has been cool and stuck to his various chopping styles through out the game, but, the same has not been done with Xu-Xin. I thought it's all done for defensive players in TT, seems like not yet. Expecting more entertainment from Ma Te in future. Wishing both the players All The Best!!!

In the beginning XX was struggling with MT's backhand no spin returns and his forehand counterloops. Of course he already knows him but it took some time to adapt. I believe he did so by keeping it shorter on the forehand side and playing flatter shots against the no spin BH. Once he got that running, it was too easy - so easy that he lost focus by the end of set 4.

Xu Xin has a lot of control, and he can hit a slow topspin with almost the same motion as his heavy topspin with pace. Ma Te is excellent but Xu Xin is just too tough.

XX rarely killed at the first return. He pushed MT to move far away from the table and returned the ball higher or close the net. Or when the spin was weak. Once it did, XX finished it. Of course it is easier said than done. LOL. Amazing XX and MT!

Is everyone stupid? Besides game 3, Ma Te was neck and neck with Xu Xin on points. Table tennis fans are really blinded by the more popular player and don't give credit where credit is due.

xu xin wasn't even playing that well here and seemed to have some trouble with his forehand rubber. it seemed so slow somehow and he had trouble killing the ball and sometimes the rubber even didn't grip as it should. amazingly still no problem for xu to win this game.

I think many believed that the match was going to be much closer given that the last time Xu Xin and Ma Te played against each other, Ma Te won. That being said, every other time, Xu Xin has won.
