@@theviniso, His serves are not as lethal as Ma Lin. He does have a better backhand in which Ma Lin mainly push-block. Nevertheless, Xu Xin is the lone penholder realistically can win a WTTC championship.

That was a crazy performance by Xu Xin. Ma Long had big problems with Wang Chuqins speedloaded topspins. But XX anticipated them almost always correctly and it seemed like he was waiting for those fire top spins from WCQ to use them against him.

I will buy his blad stiga and change my style to pen hold from shake hand style. I am a fan of him many year but I decided to change my rakcet and my style from now.

To be honest, I started naturally the penhold style and was never been able to switch to other style until 2 years ago because I was not able to use my backhand properly. Handshake style is better for backhand I found. I found penhold is not for everyone because you have to move more to compensate the backhand side unless you have the skills. XX is just naturally talented but most of us will prefer the handshake. Good luck.

I went from penhold to shakehand because I got tired of less variety of blades, lack of tutorials and reviews for penhold, filing the handle area for each blade, and sweaty fingers. The decision was costly, however, because it took some time to adjust. Neither my forehand or backhand were effective for awhile.

I think XX, in his current form, is possibly one of the best player, if not the best in history. The weakness with penhold, even if it is RPB, is the awkward backhand that can hardly be used to loop kill. XX has improved his backhand to the point that it is very consistent in terms of blocking and attacking now. Don't get me wrong, it is still nowhere nearly as powerful as the backhand of shakehand style, but what XX excels at is his powerful FH coupled with his footwork more than makes up for the weakness of penhold style. Now, you add the strength of penhold, the superb control in close game which XX exploits very well, he can become nearly undefeatable when he plays well as evidenced by the last three opens.

Chinese traditional penhold King returns. When most people think he's passed his prime time he refused the downhill and chose to evolve, to change, to break through. For any penhold player you know it's an outdated grip and how the backhand is fragile and unreliable, but Big snake did it. Now the only thing he needs to fulfill his already successful career is an Olympic gold medal.

incredible rallies , exciting motions , rich party of entertaining by beautiful table tennis. Xu Xin dominates clearly, not by experiments, but directly by skills and playing style. This winning is once again shows that the old Liu Guoliang school of average far distanced topspin playing style from the era of chinese trio super stars Wang Liquin-Wang Hao-Malin is advantaged against the japanese bored "swift hits near tables" style. Ma Long, Xu Xin are the last generation from Liu Guoliang school of safe topspin rallies style. The first is the GOAT in table tennis history. The second struggled with some equipping new modern penhold backhand techniques, but now shows that Xu Xin is the best table tennis player right now at this moment. Wang Chuquin is the new generation, which is affected a little by bored japanese "swift hits near tables" style. In this previous match Ma Long vs Wang Chuquin, Ma Long mixed a little new japanese style with more hits and less topspin, and Ma Long lost. But in this match, Xu Xin plays exactly the Liu Guoliang old school topspin rallies style, and he dominated, did not give new generation Wang Chuquin any chances. Sometimes in the past, Liu Guoliang doubted about Xu Xin' playing style. But now, may be Liu Guoliang must rethink. I think that Xu Xin does not have more enough time to change his playing style, so he just should improve his current techniques to increase accuracy in his strokes by balancing spin-power-running-average distanced topspin rallies. He has not enough time to reach career as Ma Long, but he can win some Grand Slam titles and olympic . The recent international tournaments uses DHS 40+ balls, which are a little more lightweight than Butterfly Nittaku heavyweight stone balls. Lightweight balls urge more long rallies, more running, more physical strength, more visually technique shows. And we see of course more exciting table tennis game show. Xu Xin topspin playing style is suitable for lightweight balls. European players are suitable for lightweight balls (as very balanced match Xu Xin vs Franziska in semifinal) . But these balls are still not lightweight. ITTF must soon officially announce new rule for more lightweight balls, for example 2grams balls. When define rule for ball weight, it should not to ask only players, because players just cares about winning even in very bored matches. It should ask audience, and sponsors about the willing to see attractive exciting table tennis instead of bored matches. Stop use old japanese heavyweight balls, which leaded table tennis to action contest by standing waving hands (Miu Hirano).

@@WuFei0707 if the match was scheduled to the next day like women's singles, Wang Chuqin might have a chance, easing the muscle pain more. But that's impossible, and they both play 2 matches in one day. So far every time, every player who beats Wang Chuqin in the maindraw has won that tournament. That's unfortunate.
