Is this system loud enough for a hearing impaired musician to use?
@MaxSoloMusic Жыл бұрын
I know it's loud. Don't know if it's loud enough though. I don't know anyone with hearing problems to check this. Anyone here in the comments section has anything to say on this?

Regardless of WiFi signals from other types of devices, 20:25 is a single demonstration of 1 configuration of channels between mic & IEM systems. In my experience, using xVive's mic system & their IEM system at the same time results in at least 1 mic not working, especially if there are multiple systems used with multiple mics. I checked with the vendor, & they explained this is because the Xvive transmitter & receiver antennae are just too close together when they're plugged into the board - & it's silly to plug each one into a different XLR cable just to space them out far enough. While I'm keeping their wireless mic systems, this week I'm returning their IEM system to exchange for a traditional 900 mHz IEM system that has more than twice as many channels to choose from.

Excellent review! Great detail. I put a digital system together for my band due to my failure to protect my hearing for most of my life, (tinnitus). I use the u4 system along with custom in-ears. My band is loud and some members are stubborn with stage volume. Last gig I experienced some sort of clipping, highs going in and out, like a dirty volume pott. I am technologically challenged and it’s probably a miracle that as a drummer I even put together this sound system. Can excessive volume on stage make this clipping happen? Again, thanks for the great video.

@MaxSoloMusic4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! There's no official info on that just as there are no test results or anything. But at the same time, U4 uses standard batteries which I believe may be easily found on ebay for a couple of bucks. It's inevitable that sooner or later batteries will die and the replacement process is fairly straightforward and simple

@@MaxSoloMusic Hi Max, great and informative content you have here! Sorry for hijacking the thread, but there's no other way of tagging someone on youtube, I guess. Have you tested the receiver with hi impedance headphones, like Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro (250 Ohm) or DT 990 Pro (600 Ohm)? I cannot find any specs regarding output power or recommended headphones impedance. I'd really love to get a nice pair of studio headphones for mixing so I'm opting out of 32 Ohm versions, but I'd also like to use them for rocking out around the house wireless with XVive U4 and NUX wireless guitar dongle in tandem. I'm afraid that regardless of high output you demonstrated it might be too weak to drive DTs properly as they need about 4V RMS to be driven at satisfactory volume/headroom. Any thoughts on that matter? Cheers!

Well done, and thorough! I just ordered one, should be here tomorrow. Hoping it works as expected but you intrigued me with running the cable to the singer (in my case sax player/singer) location, do you just leave the unit on the floor, or hang it from the mic stand? I use a wireless mic on the sax, and at times have the receiver at my feet, other times it's by the sound board, depends upon the band I am with. Looking forward to testing it out. thanks!

Well, if you can connect your headphones to the Scarlett directly, than in case with U4 you'd be plugging the transmitter into it instead. So yeah, it will work. As long as you're monitoring through the DAW there will be some latency

The most important aspect for me is dropouts onstage. The U2 for me was utterly hopeless onstage. We have a few different wireless systems in our band and no matter what channel’s used the U2 dropped signal most of the time. I used it that one time only and sent it back. Xvive admitted to me that that U2 didn’t interact well with other wireless systems in the same room. Pretty useless.

Best review i've seen on this! One question: I read it has no built in limiter. How important/dangerous is this issue? (Especially when other wireless devices could cause interferences with the signal.)
@MaxSoloMusic4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Right, no limiter. Do you mean the interference may sometimes cause loud pops? It's probably 1 time out of 100 dropouts. So generally if you see the connection is stable and there are no tons of dropouts, it should be fine. Although, once in a while I have experienced loud pops with U3 on stage during the soundcheck. Never during the gig
@DanY-ib7fc4 жыл бұрын
@@MaxSoloMusic Yes, maybe loud noises due to picking up other signals. Don't have more expensive in ear systems (like Shure) for these kind of reasons the limiter in their receiver packs? Or is the limiter only built into the sending unit? The point is, I am looking for a convenient in ear system to plug into just my bass amp, to hear myself clearly in rehearsals (instead of just using hearing protection) and for smaller gigs. But the fact that there would be no limiter in the line holds me off :/

Thanks so much, this is awesome. Just to add to the compatibility with the U3 (not 3c) I already own the U3 transmitter and receiver and I wanted to buy the U4 receiver only and use the U3 transmitter. It looks like it's compatible based on what you demonstrate here but I am concerned about the low volume when you used the condenser mic to demonstrate. Basically what I'd like to do is use the U3 transmitter out of an Aux channel in our QSC Touch Mix 16 and send that signal to my U4. It looks like it works but is the volume strong enough? Just wondering what your thoughts are. Thanks again for doing this!

Hey! Thanks so much for your thorough reviews about the XVIVE products. You are doing such a great job! It's really a joy to see! I have a question that you may be able to answer. I have 3 products: U2, U3C and U4. I have set these up with a Yamaha AG03 2in1 system (mixer+audio interface) and I am experiencing interference between the receivers that are all plugged into my Yamaha mixer despite the fact that obviously I have set each of them to a different channel. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to avoid this problem? I saw in your video that 3 systems should still be OK. I am a bit disappointed now. :( Thank you in advance, Brigi.
@MaxSoloMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hey BRIGI. The thing is U3C and U4 run the same protocol and are cross compatible while U2 uses an older protocol and is not compatible with the other two. This makes channel settings a bit confusing because even set to the same channel U2 and U3C use different frequencies. I'd begin with making U3C and U4 work without interference, that should be easy. And then I'd try to find the right channel on U2. Shifting all of them to another channel might work. Another solution would be to use an extension cable or cables to place the receivers apart. That is how I make it work on stage - singers have a freedom of movement and no cable connected to a mic, while the receivers are placed right next to their mic stands instead of being plugged directly into the mixer
@BRIGImusic3 жыл бұрын
@@MaxSoloMusic Thank you. :) The extension cable was the only way to resolve this.
