A good rural farm town. Beautiful area. Needs healthcare and a good business anchor. Less chain businesses and more mom n pop.

I grew up in that old big house in the woods across from old hardees on E Main Ave. That neighborhood had 18 huge old beautiful homes at one time now 6 all that havent been torn down. And my family home is empty and soon gone to probably. That huge Burke House sat where Main Street tire is now was something 6 bay windows 3 stories. A family were restoring it in mid 80s an a wood stove caught on fire upstairs and burnt it to the ground. And the house to its right where that blue bldg of same tire place is the Rich house burned also in early 80s and the old woman living in died in the fire. The huge field across from the tire place was home to the huge very old 1840s Dr Price house & office, they tore it down in 80s, The two huge houses in that field across from habitat next to my old home they were burned also in mid 80s The Campbell house on corner where Harry Gants grandmother used to live. And that old house torn down in 1991 where habitat store is was childhood home of Taylorsville mayor George Holeman. The Lowrance House. And the Munday house above Habitat store Cliff Munday was Post Master for decades it had a living room 30 ft wide x 20 in it with a stone fireplace that went to the ceiling and foot wide pine floors. Those were such fine homes that graced E Main Ave once all are almost gone now. The Campebll house that sat on corner where BB&T Bank is was another huge one with screened in sleeping porches on sides and back. It was Adams funeral homes first funeral home. And the big Gail house where Free Parking is now next to Benfields that house was up on a hill next to the old movie theater..The huge 4 chimneyed Dr. Asa Thurston house where post office is now burned to the ground in the 80s, the huge old 1840s McIntosh house where register of deeds is now the Union soldiers that came through Taylorsvilel stayed in that house over night and spoke to the citizens of Taylorsville from its upstairs from porch, tore it down for that ugly building, The Hafer house large brick house with green spanish tile roof shingles where radio shack used to be, the Bowman house large wood house where auto zone is now, And the old Plato Carson house & hardware store that sat directly in front of the courthouse on S Center Street was 1850s had porch upsiatrs and chimneys on both sides and an outside kitchen summer kitchen, gone, The old Jonas Echard house was 1840s sat where town and country drug store is now....he had a horse and buggy taxi service taking folks to the old all healing springs hotel from the train depot. torn down for that ugly building, The Hedrick house 7 bedroom fancy victorian where that bank is on corner of old wilkesboro rd and W Main Ave, gone for an ugly bank building. all are now Now gone with the wind. Main Avenue in Taylorsville was once home to some gorgeous old huge victorian historic homes all gone all torn down in 80s and early 90. They made that town really pretty. They were the mens homes that built the town. I have photos of all of these houses now that is all that exists of them. Few alive anymore remember them. And our old 4 columned charleston style stair cased huge brick old Alexander County courthouse that was replaced with the ugliest courthouse in NC once graced Main Ave....burned in 1967 at 4am??? all gone.

A little bit farther on NC-90 West at the beginning and you would have gotten Holy Trinity Catholic Church on camera! Taylorsville looks good all things considered, but that town needs a Sheetz, like, yesterday!

You said that right. It also needs old navy store and place like that in Alexander county
