Drifting with drift sleeves is great fun, you can be going fairly slow, yet it feels much faster. I was surprised how well it did with the split axle and limited steering angle. A solid axle and greater steering angle could allow for steeper drift angles and longer drifts. I don't know the outer diameter of the lego tires, but drift trikes use PVC sewer pipe on a rubber tire. I'm not sure how you'd attach it to the lego tire, or if it would work best just to print some new tires that will fit snugly into PVC pipe and glue the pipe to the printed wheels but the PVC sewer pipe is really thick and will last a good long time on a kart like that.

Its really helpful tool to prototype and create fixes but as its said million times there is learning curve and its not push of a button to make it. Printing something that large on even printer that is setup on speed like mine will take days upon days and i would never leave printer going at it on its own so it needs to supervised during that print, just in case of the fire hazard. But yeah get one and start learning. Other option is to get into machining but that is more expensive, but gets you more durable parts and material is cheaply available if you just dumpster dive on right places :D For good price to quality printer i suggest prusa i3 clone its around 300 and gets you going. If you want to make large parts then maybe look into vulcanus or something large like that or build it your self, least then you learn everything about the printer since you built it. Essentially you can just clone i3 clone and make it larger.

Hacksmith made Mario kart-esque speed boosts with a color sensor. Perhaps you could do that? Alternatively, go for a more LEGO "power up" and try to attach some projectile launchers? There are the Minifig stud launchers, some 2x2 round tile launching 2x4 bricks, and a "rocket" that looks like a technic half-pin-with-stud has a bar rammed in it. I doubt a large version would actually work with tension and friction as the tiny ones do, but it's nothing some springs couldn't fix lol

@@MattDenton That would be cool, but bigger motors tend to draw more power, so you might need bigger batteries, heavier gauge wire, and beefier electronics to handle that. And if I'm being honest, I didn't expect you to actually do it, I was just making a neat suggestion.
