I remember a long time ago seeing a trailer of Soul Reaver 1 on my Gex 3 CD and was instantly intrigued by it. A little while later I even saw a copy of the game at a store but the trailer's solemn and bombastic music -- which was called Sanctus Christus -- scared me out of buying it. A decade or so later, with me now in high school, I happened upon a copy of Blood Omen 2 which just so happened to have had a trailer of Soul Reaver 2 -- seriously, remember when games used to promote other games? I didn't even know the 2 were related, yet it immediately sparked memories in my head and made me seek both those games out. Verily, that single moment of doubt led to one of the biggest regrets of my life, for I could not even comprehend the depth of storytelling and lore that I denied myself that day. Then again, me being a kid and all, I doubt I would've gotten very far on account of its cerebral gameplay and puzzles, nor would I have grasped even a shred of Soul Reaver's depth of story and its flowery, Shakespearean dialogue, which was a major influence on my English vocabulary growing up. For the record, I'm not a native English speaker so that's saying something. So yeah, on one hand I truly regret having missed out on such a legendary franchise until my teenage years around 2008, by which point the series had entered dormancy...but on the other I am glad I got into it when I did as I now had the maturity to fully appreciate the richness of lore and thought-provoking, thematic depth contained within this series. I guess some things just have to be enjoyed in their own time and when fully ripe. Legacy of Kain truly is one of a kind and a grand example of games being more than mindless entertainment...and may it serve to this new generation of gamers as an example of what games used to be like when developers were driven by ideas and passion instead of money and worthless clout.

In blood Omen Kain was meant to sacrifice his life to restore balance, he refuses this sacrifice and thus dooms Nosgoth to ruin and decay So he condemns Raziel by sacrificing him to the void because he found a third option to restore the world through him while staying Alive Its a crazy game of chess
@maxi1ification2 күн бұрын
In this specific instance, it leans more towards your second interpretation, that is "condemn" in the sense of judge and criticize. Basically Raziel is saying that Kain's death is long overdue for the benefit of the entire world, that he was a coward to refuse the sacrifice way back in that fateful day and that he shouldn't be judged for carrying out what was otherwise a "righteous killing for the good of the world". Kain retorts that Raziel is being disingenuous, and that it isn't truly righteousness that drives him (killing Kain to save the world) but rather his own personal indignation (desire for revenge after what Kain did to him). Kain more or less tells him not to pretend, and that it is ok if he hates him for that, it's understandable, but that lying to himself and to others about it is beneath him. Compare it to how he simply, and very negatively, refers to Moebius's web of lies and manipulations and how he also advised Raziel to avoid it. It is overall consistent with Kain wanting Raziel to truly exercise his free will, and also maybe that he overall appreciates Raziel to a degree he wasn't willing to show before.
@ralphengland85592 күн бұрын
It's the judgement interpretation. "Condemn" can be used to mean "harshly criticize" or "attribute moral wrongdoing".

But transplanting the animations to the newer models for SR2 was not a great idea (I reserve judgement over the textures, though I had noticed some that were essentially untouched). I especially hate poop-Moebius, the remaster model somehow is way more difficult to read emotions from. In my mind, the remaster was only really meant for SR1, then SR2 was tacked on so people could continue after the relatively limp cliffhanger of the first.
