As far is I think, it is basically Kain calling out Raziel for coming up with excuses why he needs to be stopped, 'justice' and all that, when, in reality, Raziel was pissed that Kain had him killed, so Kain is asking Raziel to stop hiding behind pretenses of 'justice', when Raziel really just want to kill Kain because Kain had him killed.
@Broomer522 жыл бұрын
@@Rhanar I appreciate that Kain is brutally fair and honest. I don’t recall him ever lying and he’s fully aware of what he did to Raziel and is perfectly fine with Raziel holding a grudge against him for it. In fact he expected it. Considering Kain implies he did plenty of time traveling before Soul Reaver to the point of seeing how this whole struggle ends, he inevitably knew Raziel would revive after tossing him into the abyss and it’s implied he knew Raziel would kill him in that chapel and knew Raziel was the sword. He put a lot of faith in a doomed man to overcome his fate and work together with him. Kain is playing a very dangerous game and I wish we could see where he was going to take this after Defiance.

@Andreithelord4 жыл бұрын
@@TheRatzor Hylden are not demons. Vampires are not angels. The vampires used to be a normal species of winged humanoids with deeply religious devotion to the Elder God. The Hylden are atheists with a great inclination for technology. The Elder God hated the Hylden who acted to oppose it, so it sent the vampires to war and banished their entire species, locking them up with the Pillars as a seal/gate. It is already defined that the true enemy of the series is the Elder God itself, because it enforces destiny with its wheel of fate. Part of the corruption of the Pillars served to bring the Hylden back, so this was orchestrated as an act of vengeance. Nevertheless, the Hylden are less at fault here, and there is no clear good and evil in LoK. There is only perspective. Mobius served his God faithfully all the way until Raziel saw fit to show him what he was really serving, point at which he was horrified, just as he died. There is no such thing as a right answer. Just as it was for Kain at the end of Blood Omen.
@BryonYoungblood4 жыл бұрын
@Danny Williams Kain isn't necessarily evil. After what he saw from Moebius' time spanning devices, he realized he had been used and that all he saw and witnessed was not what his real destiny was. He may have done some terrible things, but Kain isn't fully evil. He's more... morally ambiguous.
@johnmurray70974 жыл бұрын
@@Andreithelord I always thougnt that was disturbing, that really the Hylden were right all along- the elder god was a manipulating parasite and the elder race just didn't realize it. I feel the truest ending should be kain takes the reaver back in time before the hylden vampire war and shows them the truth, unites them with the hylden, and together with kain and his ability to hurt the elder god they kill the EG. That would result in one of those huge history paradox reshufflings so great that kain would be wiped from history no doubt, truly sacrificing himself. But honestly that's the most justice satisfying ending- stopping all that death and horror before it even began, because none of it should have happened to begin with. It was the EG manipulating the original war to begin with. It would be a bold move for sure, but a noble one. It secures nosgoths health and prevents the damnation of both races.

Surprisingly as i see scenes between Kain and Raziel, do i realize...Kain really did view Raziel as a son to him. One of the lesser but running themes in this story is fatherhood...the older vampires assuming a role of mentorship and parental figure to the fledgling members of their kind. Janos to Vorador, Vorador to Kain and lastly Kain to Raziel...both here and when they first meet in SR1, Kain's tone towards Raziel is that of a parent guiding his child and getting angry when their child doesn't seem to grasp the point. Even the tone he uses when he says that the Pillars belong to "us"...he was including Raziel in his idea. Whatever the conclusion of Kain's plans would look like, he always believed that Raziel was going stand at his side in the end, he never really envisioned a world where Raziel would truly be gone.

If this scene in particular still fascinates people who witnessed the series at the time... I think... is because this is the converging point between Denis Dyack's Blood Omen and Amy Hennig's Soul Reaver. Blood Omen has been the work of Sillicon Knight's vision. Everything that SR2 takles has been already established in some shape or form in this very first entry. While the sequels were not written by Dyack himself, his legacy still prevailed. Soul Reaver was going to be a different franchise altogether under the name "Shifter" with a fallen angel seeking revenge, travelling between 2 parallel worlds. While Hennig was pushed to make it a sequel for Blood Omen, it turned out to be a blessing in desguise. The whole established lore of Nosgoth was to good to be true for such an appropriate tale to be told. Soul Reaver was Amy Hennig's work. But then... strangely enough... And he's seen how people hide their true motivations so much, given what happened through his journey in the first Blood Omen, such as Mortanius being responsible for his death and becoming a Vampire to right his wrongs for overthrowing the ancient Vampires as the guardians of the Pillars, Ariel for not telling him his full destiny and her expecting him to sacrifice himself to "restore" the Pillars, as well as Moebius using him to justify his second vampire manhunt and annihilation by sending him to kill William the Just before he could become the Nemesis while Moebius also manipulated William to become the Nemesis in the previous timeline. The moment when you start to realize that Kain wasn’t selfishly trying to grab at all the decadence and power he could muster, that in actuality he is trying to create the best outcome by breaking free of the game of fate that no matter what has been repeating since time immemorial. Kain knew that no matter if he sacrificed himself or tore it all asunder eventually it would all come back around again so he decided to position himself to break the binary cause and effect by adding an impossibility. Hence the edge.

Legacy of Kain is easily one of the greatest video-game series of all time, and undeniably the most well-written game series to ever exist. I remember this game introducing me to the series when I was just five years old and instantly falling in love. Sure, the narrative flew over my head, but the style was distinctly unique, and over the years my fondness for this series has only grown. I want so bad for a remaster or remake, and so this video brings me more joy than you could possibly imagine. Thank you. Also, this is phenomenal. Normally MMD animations are impressive, but very clearly held back by, well, MMD itself. This, however, breaks that mold. I have rarely seen such quality animation, especially the facial animation. And though I know you had a very sound video to work from, I also noticed that you changed some of the animations for the better. Such as how Kain crosses his arms. The only things I can think of that felt off-putting was the bright sky, the Reaver, and the moment when the shadows for the pillars lengthened as the camera went behind the rock in the foreground. For an MMD animation, especially one that isn't dance-related, that's unheard of. I adore this to no ends. Thanks so much for such an amazing, heartfelt comment! Working on these types of animations are my absolute favourite and bring me so much joy. My other content is fun to make as well, but there is something much more exciting and profound about creating animations driven by video games. It is difficult to describe, but I am so happy that I can make these videos and see the fan appreciation from all others who adore the series. You are absolutely right about MMD and unfortunately I was held back by those few things, but I always try my best to push the program to its limits and I'm very pleased that you can appreciate that aspect. I love seeing how much the Legacy of Kain fandom cares for the series and if something as small as this could make fans happy, I would be absolutely honoured to create more in the future (given the opportunity since I am limited by model resources etc). Thank you once again. :)

@@ureshiiiiii You don't need to thank me just for citing the appreciation I hold for your effort, though I thank you for such humble gratitude. I merely saw how prolific the dedication on display in your video is, and, as it appertains to something I hold dear, coveted to express the gratitude I have for it. Regardless, I can empathize with how it feels to reap the constructive emotions resonant in undertakings such as this. Particularly noteworthy when compared to pursuits more... frivolous? How's best to describe it? I don't mean to make it seem trivial. I just mean to set forth that, in my experience, the more acroamatic the effort, the more meaningful the results end up feeling. If that makes sense. As one who aspires to author my own video-game, (or rather: as someone who's spent the last twelve years developing a storyline for which I've yet to conclude, let alone commence writing for,) I can only fathom how satisying it must feel to glean just how much others appreciate your work. Yet when crafting something based on an existing property, that same affirmation also entails a promise that you've lived up to the significant expectations they must have for a property they love. Especially when regarding such profound entities as this. In that lieu, I can certainly comprehend why the response for this video in particular would fill you with so much elation. As far as MMD goes, I may not grasp the specifics, but allow me to proliferate: I do recognize the difficulty in animating through such an inefficient tool. The fact that you've made it work so profoundly, just how I couldn't possibly begin to ascertain, is already well deserving of my respect. If I may transition, however, the Legacy of Kain fanbase is equivocal of any other, truthfully. Although I wish I could stand myself upon this communal pedestal absolved of guilt, I must speak within reason. What truly sets this fan base apart from others where it comes to showcases of gratitude is the scarcity in content what's available to us. I doubt I need to explain this to you, though. As a LoK fan, I'm sure you already know precisely upon what I expound. Thumbing through your channel, I can already see Kingdom Hearts, Made in Abyss, and Final Fantasy, so it's no arduous feat identifying just how much I'll enjoy the rest of your content. I already feel as though yours is one channel I'll visit regularly. That said, I'd openly cherish any and all new LoK content you produce. Another scene that would be fairly conceivable to do with the same models used here would be when Raziel and Kain meet over William's tomb. Found in the same game, utilizing the same characters, and without too many dynamic movements, that one shouldn't prove too much more substantially difficult than this scene. Not to mention it's equally as erudite depending on who you query. The only real dilemma I forsee would be the background. Nevertheless, I stray. My point is I intend to stay and enjoy the rest of the content your channel has to offer. It honestly seems to be in nearly ideal alignment with my own tastes. Thanks once again for this immaculate gift. I doubt I could possibly describe the depth of so, but know I treasure it.

Wow. Uhm... I really apologize for how I phrased myself in my last comment. I was dead tired and actually headed to sleep shortly thereafter. Sometimes my mind goes a bit crazy when I'm without rest for a while. I'm also noticing that I sounded really pushy too... I'm sorry!
@ureshiiiiii5 жыл бұрын
@@tropichawk850 Pushy? No, not at all! As I mentioned earlier, I truly appreciate reading comments like yours. They are a lot more personal and likely to be remembered than a simple "good job" compliment. There's a small handful of others who courageously use MMD for means other than its intended purpose. I honestly just hope animations like this one can inspire and hopefully convince people who scorn MMD as being unorthodox, that it can be used to its full potential and more. But yes, I believe you're absolutely right about the scarcity of fresh LoK content and as someone who would love to create more videos of the series, I hope I am able to bring more smiles to the fans one day soon. It's interesting that you mention that particular cutscene from SR2 -- I was highly considering it before the Corruption of the Pillars scene. Though, just like you mentioned, my only real hurdle would be the chapel and mimicking the odd distortion. Not to say it can't be done, but as someone who strives for detail, I probably would hold off until (hopefully) a friend might offer to help in that regard. Anyway, I do hope you enjoy your stay on my channel and I am very pleased that you enjoyed this as much as you expressed!
@tropichawk8505 жыл бұрын
@@ureshiiiiii I can't stop rewatching this scene. I think my obsession is a bit unhealthy. I also just now noticed how Raziel calls Kain out for using metaphors all the time as if he doesn't do the same. Hypocrisy of the highest degree! But yeah, I'm glad to hear I didn't put you off. You deserve my gratitude for creating this, and I'd hate it if I'd made you uncomfortable. I want you to know that, especially with how remarkably talented you are, anything you work on in the LoK fandom would not go unappreciated. I can promise you you would make a lot of people happy, just as I'm sure all your work already does. At three very least, I know one individual who'd be really happy about it. Haha. Anywho, I know how difficult it is to try and make something professional in MMD though. I once made a trailer for the old flash game: "Final Fantasy Sonic X" on a KZbin channel I used to have called "IreallyamSora". Haha. I think I forced myself to make it in a day. I was probably trying to see how much I could accomplish in a single day's work considering it was my first attempt at video editing, but that doesn't change how ludicrous my time constraint was. I can actually pinpoint the moment I had to start rushing it to completion in the video. So yeah. It's not that great, but I hold it dear to my heart. Anyway, that's besides the point. See, I wanted to make a second trailer for the game entirely in MMD, but I quickly found out I couldn't even properly animate a character waking up. So I had to figure it out. I didn't get very far into it, but I remember being determined. At least until my computer broke. I still haven't been able to afford another computer since, and so the dream died. If any Flash game deserves a trailer, though, it's the first 2 Sonny games. Now those were awesome. I stray, though. What I mean to say is, the few seconds I had really did look nice, (albeit not on your level by any stretch of the imagination,) so I understand the struggle it takes to get to that point, but also how it is nore feasible than some are willing to accept. As for recreating the distortion in "Poor William", I will admit it has been a while since I've touched MMD, but I'd imagine you could first recreate the scene without distortion. Then, when you finish, you could process the result without the background. After that, continuously zoom in and out on the background when there is distortion to be had, process that result without the characters, and overlay the final result of the characters' actions overtop the now appropriately distorted background result in a video editing software of some sort. It's not a perfect solution, and who knows, in my inexperience I might've just spouted nonsense, but it's an idea I had, so I thought I'd share it. I can already tell I'll love my stay here. It's nice and cozy. So thank you for making this channel and sharing your creations with the world.

What I love about this scene is, that up to this point, Kain was always cold and calculated. The way his anger rises as he starts to talk about the cirqumstances of his birth and how everything was rigged against him from the first moment of his cries. I feel up to this point, this is the moment when he is fully honest with Raziel about his feelings. He is enraged at the cage he was born in and that he felt everything was manipulated, so he could never see the full picture and devise a plan of escape. He had only terrible choices laid out for him, and whatever he descides, he loses. For a prideful, intelligent person, this is the worst enraging feeling in the world. That no matter how much he tries, he is always a puppet in an unseen enemy's game.

My teacher when evaluating my homework, called me into the desk and said that it was not possible that i did that myself, where on earth did i find a text like that, and that half the words didn't exist (he didn't consult a dictionary because Brazil) so i showed to him the original video, his face, oh my god! I like that the Pillars in their "pristine" state are already showing cracks. They were already crumbling ever since humanity took them from the Vampires. Only the Vampires could sufficiently sustain the Pillars' magic; humans are too weak to do so (which's why the human Guardians had to be turned). If Kain did sacrifice himself in Blood Omen, the Pillars' recovery would only be temporary. Here's to hoping Square Enix remakes/remasters the games within my lifetime.
