100 years ago, there were tinkerers like this everywhere. Thats how we got the Wright Bros and Harley Davidson. Fantastic work for a team, let alone one person.

And now. Where is your license, your papers, the registration ? You can't drive that on the street. What if a kid bums into you with your sharp corners on the front. Here is your fine and in the next days you'll get the notification of a criminal complaint. the "car" is also confiscated. Fine payment over 5000 dollars. 100 years ago... police" ´what a nice car, how many cylinders? whats the max speed? Most impotent question, can i drive? `

Yeah I've always wanted something like a 3 wheeled Morgan ever since I laid eyes on one! But somehow it never occurred to me to try to make one that's 50cc and thus legally considered a moped!
I have the upmost respect for a man that works with his hands and gets things done😎👍🏻✨

Love yuor devotion, and this is a really cool project! The design reminds of the morgan 3-wheeler but in half size. Good choice of engine, parts are available every where. There is only one thing i would have made differently: put 2 middle axels for the chain so it can run in the frame instead of stealing 30% of your seat. And perhaps move the fastening point for the gearlever up 10cm, gives you much faster and more precise gearchanges.
I don't know any Japanese, but this is really impressive! Like, you got a nice workshop set up going on there! Also, nice cherry blossoms!

Keep it slow - stick welds and eyeball construction do not lend well to high speeds. What a great project! I've been thinking of building a trike myself with and e-bike kit.
@eweunkettles8207 Жыл бұрын
stick welds done by a pro welder are strong ive seen some realy bad mig and tig by amatuer welders i reckon perhaps there training consisted of sleeping with a welder to get info and trade secrets , sort off like American secret agents

With almost basic tools, you’ve made a fun machine at a fraction of the price of a Morgan three wheeler. Love it!
@billharrison3174 Жыл бұрын
Basic tools, mig welder, tig welder, nice lathe, shrinker/stretcher, english wheel, panel beaters gear used everyday, hardly basic. Basic would be an axe and a big hammer, maybe a 18 " crescent spanner.

This little thing looks like fun! Here in the states, vehicles like this are still considered motorcycles, so they've got all of the benefits of being cheap to plate and insure. However, you could use this during winter as long as you bundle up, ice isn't nearly as dangerous with a trike. I'm quite surprised you don't see more vehicles like this over here. If I had the shop or knew of a makerspace large enough I'd make one.
@cujoedaman Жыл бұрын
You don't see more of these because Americans as a whole are stupid and would rather buy massive trucks that get 15MPG, then complain about gas prices or get suckered into the EV market scam because they're led to believe that it's somehow better for the environment. I have my truck, gets 15MPG (no longer my daily driver), but I also own a 2000 Saturn SL1 that gets nearly 34MPG and I just got my own 2022 Honda Super Cub that gets 100-120MPG, so I'm regressing :D
@DFX2KX Жыл бұрын
@@cujoedaman EVs aren't bad for the enviroment *if you take care of them*, not thrashing them on the drag strip so you ruin the pack. EVs are, however, often quite expensive. It is *really* hard to beat a small-displacement motorbike for pure fuel economy though. A small EV driven like a granny will beat it, but most folks wouldn't drive one like that. My E-Bicycle is 300+ MPGe, but that comes at the cost of top speed.

I'll bet your son can't wait until he gets big enough to drive it. Great job, but can't understand why you stick welded the frame when you have a TIG welder at your disposal. I've been thinking of building a 2 wheel enclosed scooter, LIke the one Malcom Newell built years ago in England, but I plan on using a 650 cc Burgman for the project. I noticed what looks like a bunch of ZAP or Jawa motorcycle engines on your shelf. (Speedway motorcycle egnines)
