Gosh Mr Xy, the videos you put out are tv quality, great job!! Well thought out, put together brilliantly… and the addition of clever questions with interesting answers from the authors.. Well done Al! I imagine great deal of work went into that, thank you ❤

Wow cheers mate! Much appreciated - yea this took a long time to pull together and get done, but was worth it by the looks of it from the response :) Thanks again man!

Really great video, the Dizzy games were my favourite as a kid and I still enjoy playing them now. I don't play them often but every few years I'll pick up the original Dizzy and play it through. Crystal Kingdom was a pretty solid Dizzy game. I must admit I wasn't a huge fan of the C64 version with the blue sky (it felt overall different) but I enjoyed the Spectrum version.
@Xyphoe20 күн бұрын
Thank you! I guess even with the blue sky, and all the other little changes (no Dizzy roll! And I neglected to mention you could change direction mid air after jumping!! etc etc) they were trying to progress / modernise Dizzy a little and start to bring him in-line with the 16-bit era, and as Jarrod said - what the Amiga version was doing. But if you were used to 7 previous Speccy/CPC Dizzy games in black then it's going to be a little odd! Anyway, as you can see Dizzy still lives on with the new generation even if it may just be my kid that's playing them!! I wonder how many other's out there are? 😄

@@Xyphoe there are over 300 fan made dizzy games too, some are silly fun games but some really do feel like a 'proper' Dizzy game. I did a video literally just yesterday where I mention that, but it's more of a brief over than anything in depth.

Great video, love the interviews and background information alongwith the play through. I enjoyed playing through this, wish I had it back in the day

Thanks mate! Glad you liked this and I hoped it wasn't too intrusive into the longplay - people who want just the longplay I've uploaded it as a separate pure longplay video (no commentary or added bits) as an unlisted vid - there's a link in the description. But yea, cheers and I too enjoyed playing it and also wish I had it back in the day. I stopped at the preceding game - Prince Of The Yolk Folk, I never really saw this one in the shops at the time. After Xmas 1992.... it was hard to find Amstrad stuff in 1993.

But the sweetest part of the video was your little son playing, that was so cute.. the way he rocked to the rhythm 🥹🥰🤗🤗🤗. Another thing - yeah, the game ending was underwhelming, but the best part showed how kids don’t bother with that, they enjoy the ride - and he happily switched it on again and continued playing for a bit more. Bless!!😇😇😇

Fantastic video Xyphoe! This was the last Dizzy game I ever got, and it brings back many fond memories on the C64. The first time we also got a full colour version too, which at the time was very exciting. The jump was a lot more forgiving compared to the original game and the Game Genie split of the map into levels was useful. It was a bit too easy overall though. Loved the whip innuendo in Daisy's room too - didn't go unnoticed, even when I was 11 years old playing the game! :D
@Xyphoe20 күн бұрын
The whip didn't go unnoticed by The Oliver Twins in their dev notes/documents either!! Alas it was too late the game had already gone to the duplicators by the sounds of it!! Thanks for the nice comment too - I sadly missed out on this game, I don't remember seeing this much in shops at the time and if I was going to splash out on a full price game it probably would have been something else to be honest... the last Dizzy game I bought was the preceding one (Prince Of The Yolk Folk).

What a fantastic video. I used to enjoy playing al the main line dizzy games on my 464 and later the amiga, and even fast fod dizzy. As some of the last entries were released though, I started to get dizzy fatigue and I think the series started to lack inovations (also the same 3-item carry formulae, which felt dated to me back in the early 90's).
@Xyphoe20 күн бұрын
Thank you man!! Really glad you enjoyed that, and that it also brought back some nice nostalgic memories. And yea Fast Food Dizzy was decent, and I think Kwik Snax was the best and my favourite of those spin off arcade Dizzy's - that was class! Shame Dizzy never progressed beyond the 16-bit era really yea.

Thank you! That's an honour coming from the YolkFolk site team! One of the first websites I looked at when starting research for this game - which of course was already linked to in the description of this video :)

Great vid Xy. I remember getting this when it was released (13 yo) and thinking at the time it was not worth a tenner even though it was an okay game. I think I played it twice at them most. Also, you have too many CPCs so I offer to take the 664 of your hands as a favour ;)

Thanks Joe! If you still have it, then it may be worth a bit of dosh now! Not 664 money though, so yea ... I think I'll keep it if it's all the same to you mate! lol 😂

Ahhh damnit, I thought I caught all typos - already had to re-render once (and that takes several hours!) correcting a few. Those bloomin' quote boxes were the most awkward to do in the video editing software, a slight change and it all went wonky. Never mind.
