Bit by bit, you are drawing together the entire story of the Amstrad! It's this sort of oddity that makes you load the old machine back up again, cheers for posting. Makes me think of Exolon indeed, but weirdly also Nomad (Ocean) and Myth, in terms of the focus on progressing weapons. I'm going to try this out!

Thanks Frishnit! Funnily enough, the next game Neil went on to do was indeed Myth! (On both the Speccy and Amstrad!) I think you'll really enjoy Rex! Just take you time and be patient on in, and think what to do first in each room - don't rush in :)

i love these old games, thhey tell a story and givbe a feeling like no other a time in history that shouldnt be forgotten, but also should still be created these things are artistic (when done correctly) like reading a book with some graphics going along with it (i kno thi sgame dosent fit that description but u get my drift)

Lovely comment :) But oh, I think this game does to - they all do! Rex, although seemingly largely forgotten, is still an important game in computing history I feel - more so for the ZX Spectrum though.

Did not expect to hear "fancy blue balls" that often in a video.

I had a ZX Spectrum demo tape of this, I’m guessing from Your Sinclair. Now I have it emulated on my 3DS. Good time!

Saw the same video as you on YT but noticed how it didn't mention the Amstrad version. So I decided to do a bit of CPC promotion in the comments and had a number of positive replies

Hehe nice one! It's just a shame this was rushed out and missing so much, I can see why this version isn't mentioned as much.

i haven't seen an Amstrad CPC since my old black one with red and green keys lol. What model is this one?. I am still stunned it has a better version with brilliant music for Sorcery /plus than the 16BIT Amiga port does after playing that recently.
@Xyphoe2 жыл бұрын
Are you asking about the model on the intro? If so that's the later (revamped) 464 Plus. Your old 'black one with the red and green keys' is of course the original CPC 464 :)

_Redhawk_ by Melbourne House included a separate demo program. The game, and its sequel _Kwah!,_ were quite innovative for their time - text adventures that are presented in the form of a comic book.
@Xyphoe2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting, and the first example I've heard so far. Shame it's 'just' a text adventure.
@CPCGameReviews2 жыл бұрын
@@Xyphoe I've found another example - _Killed Until Dead_ by US Gold. It's a murder mystery adventure where you have to use your detective skills to deduce who is planning to commit a murder. It includes a useful demo/tutorial mode.

It's a shame that the boss battle is missing. I guess it's because the amount of graphics and sprites in the CPC version meant there was no more room to include the boss - and given how large the boss sprite is in the Spectrum version, the battle would probably be painfully slow were it to be included in the CPC version.
@Xyphoe2 жыл бұрын
I think I'd still take having the boss in the game even if it was excruciatingly slow. I think I'd rather have that content than not.

I've never played it, it seems to have completely passed me by. Sounds like I should go get the Speccy out for this one.
@Xyphoe2 жыл бұрын
Definitely the Speccy is the superior version here, however this is still very decent and well worth a blast!

Hi Xyphoes, MsMadLemon channel need to find an CPC 6128, could you help her?
@Xyphoe2 жыл бұрын
I don't know of anyone personally selling a 6128 - people tend to hold onto them unlike say the 464 which is quite common. So it's the usual looking on eBay etc (there's a few there right now!). Happy to help though if she wants to talk to someone about what to look for, avoid, etc. Put her in touch with me if you want to :)

@@Xyphoe she live I UK too, do you know her channel? Lots of amiga and c64 BUT perhaps a place for an amstrad so...
@Xyphoe2 жыл бұрын
I do know of her excellent channel yes! Unfortunately I have so little time to watch other videos these days with making my own and live streaming 5 nights a week on Twitch and on here :(

I don't know if it counts as a tutorial, but the challenge of the Gobots game had a story book on side one of the tape that acted as an explanation of the plot and that you had to throw scooter clones into the bases to the destroy them. I don't think the makers of the game were familiar with the cartoon as the story was weird. Not as weird as the second tape that had some bizarre 80's synth music narrating a story that had nothing to do with the Gobots?!?
@Xyphoe2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting! Thank you, I might look at that game one day - but I remember so little about the Gobots that it might fly over my head anyway! But now I have a heads up - so cheers!
