I remember playing this a lot along with War Machine, that was another good budget run ‘n gun!

Oh yes, War Machine. I really *really* wanted to like that, but just couldn't get on with it. I tried! Everything looks and moves great, just not great game design. Doesn't help that most the dumps of the game have corruption too!

@@Xyphoe I hadn't seen Monument, but it looks very pretty. I loved War Machine, and played it on Amiga too although it had a game breaking bug with a blocked cavern there!

Nice graphics. They've managed to make it look as though there are more than just 4 colours.

Yea some good talent there in the art to make 4 colours look so good :)

Bloody heck! You make it look easy, I died a lot playing this as a kid.

It IS bloomin' hard! I hate those bouncing balls that seem to home in on you!

@@Xyphoe I’ve tried many times to complete it, watched a walkthrough by Axelino and still couldn’t 😔 the artist really captured a post apocalyptic world in hi res, not sure if that’s what he was going for as instructions just talk about storming a monument. Looks like Richard Cooke the programmer worked on Shark and Task Force. But I’m not sure if he’s responsible for the graphics as well. I know what you mean about the other game. Did you ever play Metal Army? Also are you a fan of the Joe Blade series?

I grew up with this game. This and Dizzy. Great times.

very nice mode 1 game! It resembles EXOLON and MASK 3
@Xyphoe3 жыл бұрын
Yes agreed! Definitely got a vibe of both those games, and the side on levels of Gryzor!

@@Xyphoe why Gryzor II never happened? It was a legendary success....

Great game, good use of mode 1 and a budgie cant go wrong

With big thanks to you and your hidden gems streams for reminding me to get round to this one, been on my list for years!

this looks fantastic. The graphics look like NES game, it looks smooth and it has a large playing window. I'd take that over a small window, slow moving, jerkily scrolling game. First time I've ever seen it, I wonder what other gems came out late in the CPC's life

Not the most exciting cover or game title can see why it never sold would definitely be great purchase back in the day on budget. Imagine what it could of been with more levels, more varied enemies and boss fights though. Agree with you I usually prefer mode 0 graphics on Amstrad but the use of mode 1 in this game is really effective, you should do a mode 1 special sometime highlighting the best
@Xyphoe3 жыл бұрын
Definitely could have been expanded and sold full price with music, more enemies, bosses, etc!

Wow... what a crappy box art and what beautiful graphics and awesome sprite animation. Usually it's the other way around.
