I know it's been more than a year but if you're still interested, Flower Beauty just came out with a new palette called Coastal Lights with a much more muted cool toned color scheme. I just ordered it. Fingers crossed that it's the same quality as the original!

I remember buying both palettes at $16.99 each in 2022 and then I saw them jump up in price early in 2023 to $19.99 🤨 Like, come on now. For those looking to buy these, wait for a good sale or points multiplier at Ulta. The shipping differences between Flower Beauty and Ulta are very different. I ordered the Jungle Lights palette from Flower and it came in such a secure package - I shook it before I opened it and it did not even rattle! The packaging team there were not playing around, the palette was wrapped in several layers of paper. I ordered the other palette from Ulta and it arrived in the dreaded bubble envelope and I must have been blessed by the UPS Saints themselves because it somehow arrived intact. I am honestly surprised this brand doesn't have space on the shelves in Ulta, but it is what it is. Speaking of Flower Beauty, there has been "The Message from Drew" and the promise that something new is coming has been on the page for *months* and no update in months. Which is odd, since occasionally new products from the brand will pop up on Ulta... so they are not going away, I don't think. Onto the palettes themselves - they need to be picked up with one's finger for maximum impact. I have tried using a variety of brushes (I even tried picking up with a sponge I had dampened with setting spray once - zero luck) and for me, it does not achieve the same effect as it does with my fingers. The pan sizes are HUGE and I do appreciate that they are within a plastic package, because I have a sneaking suspicion that if the eyeshadows were in a cardboard package, there would be oil leakage. Are there technically better shimmers + metallics out there? Sure - but these are still fantastic and are worth having in your collection.

Small companies in general tend to be a lot more careful than major retailers when it comes to packaging. Whenever I buy anything pressed from Ulta, I just buy in-store or do order-pickup. I’ve gotten packages in the mail with literally one small piece of bubble wrap just thrown into the box like a sheet of paper, it’s ridiculous! Because of my own experiences working in e-commerce, I know for a fact that this happens when companies care more about speed and pushing out orders than making sure those packages won’t arrive damaged and inevitably get returned. So it isn’t necessarily the people packing orders that are to blame, because often times they are being pressured to rush. At least Sephora uses packaging paper and stuffs their boxes so items aren’t bouncing around.

Maybe the people who are saying they’re better than indie shadows aren’t a big fan of texture or are underwhelmed by their regular shimmers. I haven’t tried them, but looking at the swatches they might be comparable to that shimmer formula Terra Moons has for their shades like Palladium, which is pretty stunning. I love the duo and multi-chromes the indie brands offer, but I can also appreciate a really good metallic too 😊

Jungle lights just reminded me of my first “this eyeshadows is for swatches only”. Essence used to have Metallic line of eyeshadow and they swatched sooo beautifully. I bought cooper shade and it looked exactly like the one from Jungle lights. Creamy, pigmented, dimensional, it had everything. But if you tried to apply it on the eye… firstly the brushes were no-go like I coudn’t pick a speck of eyeshadow on the brush and secondly there was literaly no transfer from finger to eyelid, like the only tool that picked up the pigment was my finger and it was stuck to it like a glue. Thanks for coming to my ted talk. I like the eyelook and foundation seems fenomenal. ❤

I’ve had both of these for a while now. I think they’re better than some indie shadows. It depends on the texture. I do have to be careful on how I handle them (a shade shattered when it got knocked down). I think it would be great if the did a release of these combined, but in smaller pans and also different shades too.

I was able to find the desert lights palette in pristine condition at Marshall’s for like $4.99 ( a while back this year …) & I LOVE to pair it with the Patrick ta: Major dimensions II palette, I personally feel like the compliment each other very well ☺️✨

I love the flower beauty blush bombs! They also have these blush sticks that smell like candy but I lost mine 😢 I preferred that one but honestly both formulas are great. The shade Bubbly is the one I have too and it’s so pretty! When I want a baby pink that’s the one I go for 💕 it’s so cute and I love these cooler pinks on you! Also, while the shadow looks great, I don’t think anything can beat indie 😂 at least for me, I need all the sparkle and shifty beautiful indie shadows (Terra Moons is my faveee) haha but these still look really nice if you’re into metallics. That purple taupey shade was so stunning! Thank you for testing these out 💜💜

I’ve tried the blushes and the two shimmer palettes you picked up, I really like both blush formulas and the shimmers kinda reminds me of the give me glow shimmers. I’m typically gonna reach for my indie shimmers most days, but Flower beauty did their thing with these shimmers. I gifted me sister the neutral shimmer palette and she loves it.

Those are my favorite drug store shadows. So beautiful! I wish they would make some more color stories in this formula. I also got mine from Ulta. They were not damaged, but they were packaged poorly.

Hi Amy, I own both of these - purchased Jungle Lights 3+ years ago it took 6 orders to get a palette that wasn't shattered and all over my package and box. 😒🫣😞😑 I would say both Desert and Jungle Lights are better than BIG name luxury brands (Chanel/Dior/Byredo/Westman etc. . .) 😅 but indie? Nah. . . They are beautiful metallics. Whooo - they went up when I purchased these they were like 4 bucks cheaper. 😅😐 Inflation 👎🏾 Love your swatches! 🫶🏾

Thanks for your honest opinion. These palettes are not easy to find in Australia and I’ve always felt I’m missing out. But it’s another case of “good for the price”. We have some awesome indie brands in Aus and I’m happy to spend my eyeshadow budget there instead of trying to find and ship this palette internationally.

I wanted to try these, but feel like the pans are so big. I think they should combine all the colors into one pallet. Also the packaging looks really flimsy and I doubt it’s easy to depart the shadows. I am mostly trying to buy things that have easily removable products and reusable packaging.

I don’t think you could remove the pans easily but the formula seems like you could repan it pretty easily using @facesbygina method of you have some empty pans. Basically you scrape the product out onto a paper and flip the pan over and press it into the chopped up shadow like twice, then you can add more on top and press If desired.

I have the Jungle Lights palette, and the shades are beautiful... but being that to my knowledge you can ONLY get them online at Ulta?? Mine came with 2 shades completely destroyed because Ulta is the WORST at packing boxes:( for $18 it's not worth it to only get 4 working shades. I will never buy powder products from Ulta again honestly.

@AmyLovesMakeup I'm glad they did, but sometimes instead of a refund they offer to replace the palette and then you're stuck in a cycle of constantly getting broken palettes until they finally either refund you or you get one in tact🙃 definitely glad for their good customer service, but they NEED to learn to pack better lol

serum foundations tend to be pretty matte! I also always thought that it would mean that the finish will be super hydrating and fresh, but seemingly it seems to be marketed to somewhat oilier skintypes that only want something lightweight that doesn't feel heavy / too rich...? Idk just a theory / observation

I really struggle because of the blue on my inner corner. I haven't found a color corrector that I like that's not dry or waxy or oily or greasy. If I don't use one my concealer can look gray but if I do use one it seems to always change the texture of the concealer.

My Desert Lights palette came from Ulta with one of the shades broken. Fortunately they’re soft enough to repress easily but if it’s multiple shades I can see what an aggravating mess it would be. Ultra’s packaging sucks but their customer service is usually pretty good so I wouldn’t ever hesitate to reach out to them. Maybe if everyone complains enough they’ll fix the situation but I’m not holding my breath. Fortunately, I live close to an Ulta store so I never hesitate to return the ColourPop super shock shadows that routinely come busted however Flower for whatever reason is on-line only and that is frustrating because their quality is good so I’ve played the shipping roulette game. My Jungle Lights palette was fine so it all depends.

Ulta does the worse packaging. I feel that they should invest more in their packaging. I imagine they lose money from that as I myself have had to ask for an exchange or refund like 3 times. ESPECIALLY if eye shadow is involved.
