Fantastic Job Anthony. I particularly like your sincerity and attention to detail. I will adopt some of your techniques and share with you my progress. I currently use a 50w pump for my hydroponic connected to the main electricity. What should be the capacity of my solar panel to power the 50w pump?

I guess you are using AC pump? If AC pump you will require inverter for the solar panel. If you are using the solar panel for direct supply, then anything above 100w for the solar panel is more then enough. If you planning for the battery storage system wise, the wattage for the solar panel will determine to how efficient the charging only. And in the case for sure more is better. To size your battery storage, will depend on your requirement for the pump to operate. You must cater in efficiency of sun light/weather etc. For my setup with 35w pump and 1200w inverter, it's only last about 2-3hrs. (10k MAH If you using 50w pump and 200w inverter, I guess 3-4hrs will be good. In case you needed for 24hrs supply, you need battery more than 60k MAH at least. If you are using DC pump then same capacity will last more. My mistake for this setup is using inverter that too large which consumed most of the energy. Hence will rectify when I have future upgrade.

I like your setup. I just have one question. Why didn't you use a DC pump? You could have then avoided the need for the inverter? Just wondering ...

Thank you Was thinking to get DC pump previously. Somehow at my area can't get a DC pump which powerful enough to pump the water from reservoir 1.5m until the top tier. Hence hopefully I will manage to get one later.
