I'm really considering buying one too as a backup horn. I'm super curious about those. Wish I could try them somewhere in Germany.

Could you please tell me what Doug Elliot mouthpiece set-up you're using for this Y-Fort 763G? After watching your video, and reading the SamBTbrn review on TromboneChat, I decided to pull the trigger and purchased this exact model, the YSL-763G, from Swisstbone a few days ago. It's now on its way and I'm excited to check it out! Your mouthpiece set-up will give me a starting point to springboard from. I'm also a bass trombone player who doubles on tenor. Thanks very much for all this detailed information: very well done, and extremely helpful!

I use an XT104N.G.G8, I believe. I also have a G+ and G9 shank. It also works with my GB NY3.5 though that is obviously a bit more work!

Hi David, I'm SamBTbrn and the one that wrote the forum review, thanks for reading it. I hoped it helped. With mine I use a Bob Reeves 4g rim, 5g cup combo.

ngl i kinda wanna get one just to get one. If this plays as awesome as we hear and you are describing, im sure they are working on improvements already and their next iteration/followup to this like idk 5 years down the road will be an absolute monster and game changer. especially if they can get the publicity.

Just remember - you are going to be paying more for a Conn, Bach, Shires, etc. but you are going to get service and there will be parts available. I would be curious about the warranty and service. Distribution to retailers appears limited upon cursory search.

Yup, but is that small point worth upwards of $4000?

@@AidanRitchie I agree it’s a sub-$2K horn and a nice package at half or less than that for a comparable horn. If your tech can fashion a screw if needed or just do routine work on it then it’s a non-issue I suppose. Even for KZbin quality video I can tell it’s got nice solder work and a nice finish.
@peterlaurence-couzens89137 ай бұрын
That may well be the case in the U.S, however the rest of the world may well be less than ideal. My experience of CS service has been bad, and together with poor quality control of the instruments I had sent to me has meant I no longer own any CS horns. Can’t speak to Shires though (apart from acid bleed on a couple of horns owned by colleagues). I guess my point is that it’s a big world out there. Peace :-)

#1. The Y-Fort instruments from a new high Tech factory. The owner's old factory made all Eastman brass since2003. They had good quality control. That's why their 6 trombones from student to professional models both play well at NAMM 2023. #2, Any defectives issue will be taken cared. The special designed valve easy to service, also their parts all can be exchanged that makes any brass shop service Y-fort brass instruments much easy than any other brand. Worry free is true.
Would you still recommend this horn? planning on picking up a tenor and this is just a good price point

Thank you for your informative video 👍 I personally am putting the german made Courtois like for example AC421 above Bach and Conn ! ....and B&S MS14IK-L as well. I am not saying, that Bach and Conn are not good, but I personally am not seeing the same quality like 20+ ago. The National Philharmonic in my country just ordered a set of Bach trombones....awful 👎 To heavy and hard to play. The valve mechanic is not bad but it can be better. But like we say, for every train there's passagers ! Greetings

Interesting they choose to use the YSL designator. Are they trying to confuse people into thinking it's a Yamaha instrument? My immediate thought on seeing the name was "Oh, it's a Yamaha", before it became clear.

THere are several other brands that do the same thing- I don't blame them too much. They're obviously not trying to copy Yamaha in any way
