雨后春山 - Spring Mountain after the Rain

Contemporary art work at its best! Though fan dance is not very popular with the modern crowd and is hardly "hip", probably more considered as hackneyed and boring, but this dance just shows you how dazzling and "cool" fans can be. Amazing, how creative artists can be. Dances like this should spark some interest in even the most resistant audience.
Costumes (the colors, especially, plays nicely with the lighting), props (fans, but not really fans), and music (dynamic, very catchy) all complement the choreography well. Imagery is wonderful (check out that tree towards the end); give off the fresh after-spring-rain feel, doesn't it? Heh, you can almost smell it, or not...

Oh, this is beautiful... I'm so excited to see such lovely fan dancing--it may be considered out-of-style to the cultures who have been practicing it for centuries, but a new crowd is getting in on the fluttering fans and we love it. A question for you, though; do the Chinese ever dance with two fans, or always just one?

yup, there are double fans. I like single fan more, and usually the pros prefer it too.

unfortunately, this video wasn't "us" (I won't ever be in such a dance, heh); it's from a dance competition in China--professional quality that is. However, my affiliated dance group is planning to learn this dance next; that's why I uploaded it. It's hard to duplicate some effects in there; I hope they can be half as good. thanks though..

I believe the turn is just a spot rotation. There might be a specific name for what she's doing though. I can ask and tell you later.
