2080/02/06 The Dance was performed at Dharan 17, Sakela Park.
Sakenwa/Sakela is one of the main festivals of an ethnic group, indigenous native of Nepal, Sikkim and Darjeeling.
Sili is a Special Stunt performed during the Laak/Naach/Dance. Sili represent the nature, culture, history, etc. There are 21 silis' including Manxa Laak. Mangchha laak is performed only while entering and leaving the dancing stage. The rest 20 bantawa silis are as follows:

Which are performed during Laak/Naach/Dance. It takes more than 4 hours to complete all the silis. In this video we have performed only some silis. Which is Rohom Paru/बासिखोरे (रोहोम पारु), etc.
Yele Dong/Yele Sambat (Devanagari: येले संबत् ) is the lunar calendar used by the Kirat community of Nepal. The Yele Sambat calendar is named after the first Kirat king Yalambar. The Limbus call it Yele Tangbe, the Rais call it Yele Dong, and the Sunuwars call it Yele Thoche.
It is said that this calendar started when the Kirat king Yalambar defeated the Gopal dynasty in the Kathmandu Valley. The Yele Sambat calendar begins on 15 January. This new year day is also celebrated as Maghe Sankranti in Nepal when people eat sweet potato and various kinds of yams and sel roti.
'Lakchham' is a bantawa language word which means 'Dancing Song' as 'Lak' means dance and 'Chham' means song. It is a song sung during Sakela Naach.
Sakenwa/Sakela dance is performed by large groups of Kirats on wearing traditional attire. People from all ages dance together in a large circle. There are male and female leaders in each circle known as Silimangpa and Silimangma respectively. They choreograph the dance moves known as sili while others follow them. The sili reflects the different aspects of human life and their relationship with nature.
The Sakela celebration is a prayer to mother nature for healthy crops and protection from natural calamities. The festival is Started on Baisakh Purnima, Sakela Ubhauli is celebrated for 15 days in Baisakh (April/May) marking the beginning of the farming year. Similarly, the celebration of Sakela Udhauli during Mangsir (November/December), which is the harvest season, is the giving of thanks to mother nature for providing a good harvest.
