I mean he knows Hebrew. I don't know if he's been to Israel or not, so I can't speak to colloquial Hebrew but he definitely knows liturgical Hebrew-- I haven't seen him since high school but back then he was fluent in English and Spanish, as well as being apparently pretty conversant with Hebrew and ASL (I say apparently beccause I don't know the latter two)..

I understand now why you view it the way you do. If only you could take a trip there and see that in the hospitals it's normal to find Jews being roommates with Arabs. The Arabs actually prefer the Jewish hospitals because they are taken care of very well there. I don't love all of Israel's policies either but they don't have a normal country to run. I wish you could see the whole picture.

I never said anything about friends in Israel. I said friends that don't live in Israel and believed like you took a trip to Israel and saw the truth. I've been there a few times also. His actions aren't going to necessarily be representative of the mainstream orthodox opinions. They may, they may not. The better question yet, where do you get off questioning and judging another persons actions? or the actions of an entire religion? I overreacted, ok. I work in a rehabilitation center in Slovenia (ex-Yugoslavia). Every year we take casualties of war from Gaza-mostly women and children. Our center is sponsored by EU, so we make the prosthetics and ortothics needed, take them trough the physiotherapy and occupational therapy intervention... usually, they come here without their legs, arms, with braindamage... I'm not mad at jews. I'm mad at Israeli policy. I know Hamas certainly doesn't try to help-they are insane.

And you know how that happened. The Hamas (and other groups, Jihad etc.) shoot their missiles from inside the villages, schools and near hospitals. They know that the Israeli army would not react because there are women and children involved. This is the Hamas tactic. but after dozens of missiles and casualties on the Isreali side, the army reacts. This gets us CRAZY here in Israel. How can they sacrifice their people? And they keep on doing this. Shoot missiles from inside civilian centers so the army would not react immediately. This is also the reason why the Hamas leaders are still alive. they would have been wiped out by the army otherwise. Many times missions to kill Hamas terrorists was aborted because they take women and children with them as a shield.
