Amezing class, amazing sensei. He loves Aikido. He loves his opponents. Backwards a voice of a child.

What the sensei was demonstrating was keeping his weight underside where he was held. In order to achieve that you’ve to maintain your centreline by keeping your hips firmly rooted, which he emphasised repeatedly in order to relax completely. It wouldn’t work if like all this students had failingly displayed when you tried to pull by strength alone. That’s the jeez of Aikido and where it’s hardest to grasp. But once you’re able to everything else’s seemed like a breeze.
I'm doing Iwama ryu Aikido and Karate and I really enjoy watching this demonstration as the connection of the bodies and at certain point the using of some kyusho points as the targets were clearly demonstrated. I think the use of kyusho points in Aikido is really interesting. Really good instructional video. Onegaishimasu!

I'm also a Iwama Ryu Aikido student. I dislike most of youtube's Aikido videos. Pat Kendricks and Mori Shihan are the exceptions - their performances are always inspired and powerful.

Yeah good instructions as always, but theirs students are very boring and again, they always didn't understand how to move... Or basically movement. How can u to bring a black belt...Shame for them..

@@tehbotolsosro127 In Melbourne, Iwama Ryu Aikido Australia. I'm Indonesian living in Melbourne. When I visited Indonesia I tried to train at Iwama Shinshin Shurenkai there are some differences here and there. Anyway, we all learning the same Arts..

@@ray7892-d6i maybe because since takemusu Aikido or any Iwama Ryu besides The Iwama ryu which is under Saito Sensei (i think the name is iwama shin shin aiki Shurenkai, cmiiw) never have any updated techniques. Because Aikido techniques will always develop. But if you already connected to Saito sensei group, i think it will be good for your aikido.

Very good! I appreciate this. Thank you for sharing. Many people today have lost faith in traditional martial arts. I feel there are two main reasons for this. One is MMA gives the uneducated the perception that brawling is the only form of fighting skill a human can develop. The other is America's fast food culture. American culture, especially through Hollywood, has given the world the idea that everybody can be a high level master of martial arts, and in only a few months. Far too many unscrupulous teachers fill their delusional students minds with fantasies of short cuts to skill. Real skills take time, commitment and perseverance, a good teacher, and good fortune. Just because you have invested five, eight, or even fifteen years in training, there are no guarantees. There is no law that says you will succeed. Nor is there any law which guarantees failure. Not every lump of coal will become a diamond. Training will reveal your weakness, and develop sincerity, etiquette, effort, character, and self-control. Start there. Keep practice. Not all aikido instructors can demonstrate their aikido on people who are bigger/stronger than them and who are not their students... it appears that the big student is from Australia and not a student, so this is impressive and really a lot like Shioda Sensei. Notice they have Shioda Sensei's photo on the wall about 1 inch higher than O'Sensei's photo.

That depends on you. The man makes the art, not the art making the man. You make it work. Belt ranking means little. Do you have a clear reason why you train? There are at least four reasons for training. 1) Health. 2) Performance art. 3) Combat. 4) Zen. If your intention remains clear, if you have a good teacher, and if you train dligently, you will make any martial art work. When the student is ready the teacher appears. Good luck.
