i dont understand a word of japanese but those workers and the stones spoke to me. I have built drystone retiaining walls walls here in the blue mountains of australia and appreciate the craft and labour that went into these masterpieces

Greetings from Somalia. Truly amazing how they built it without cranes centuries ago. I loved and enjoyed watching it and learning about Japan’s beautiful stone masonry. Thanks for sharing. I’m building house in Africa and it’s going to be half African and half Japanese.

@@Canjeex Look for Japanese timber frame, Japanese reed thatching (Africa has plenty of common reed and similar plants for thatching but the traditionals in the north grow way taller so they might not be of the suitable thickness) & Japanese plaster (way superior than other mud plasters around the world, more refined).
