Don't say you can't speak. Today people from Barkur / Kundapura people talk TULU is a great pride to us for Kanarites. People from Barkur / Kundapura speaks only "HALE KANNADA" today they speak "TULU" in Mumbai shows the pride for "TULU" "JAI TULUNADU" "JAI KARNATAKA"

In Barkur and Kundapura ,people speak Kundapura kannada. Knowledge of Tulu on those areas are very minimal or nothing. Those from Kundapura people who settled Mumbai normally speak kannada if not Kundapura kannada.

@@Preetham479 It was not Tuluvas who left to speak Tulu and started kannada . Even during 1951 census , before Karnataka was formed. Areas above Udupi city( from Brahmawar )was dominated by kundagannadigas only.

Kannadiga parents really have problem. What is the problem to teach the mother tongue(Kannada/Tulu/Konkani/Kodava) to their children irrespective of the location. What legacy you are going to give to your children? Most of the time the children feel inferior to talk in their mother tongue when parents have studied in Kannada medium schools. Shame on such parents.
