Would you also consider moving back to US? But house price is also crazy in SoCal decent areas :(

This is relatively speaking. California is high earning state, lots of exciting opportunities comparing to the rest of world. So, the competitions are fierce when it comes to buying a house when you are living in such amazing place.

Hi Linkedout and Alex, yes SoCal is a bit too expensive. Given the situation and the lack of space in HK, it's hard not to think about moving back to the US. We are considering Seattle or Austin. Is there a particular place you would recommend?

@@EnglishwithMaggie Both Seattle and Austin are nice growing major cities. Personally I prefer Seattle to Austin, feeling that Texas may be on the pace of being the next California, but Austin is definitely a good one. My favorite states include WA, Utah (great on all major categories if you don't mind the religious vibes) and the upper three New England states (NH, VT and ME, safe and beautiful, also since you are considering UK). Metro wise, other than Seattle and Austin, I'd also like to check out Raleigh, Salt Lake City, and Boise. Some are not the most popular choices but just my thoughts 🙂 I used to like Portland but it's not as good nowadays. I wish I was flexible to move

Since you are having a kid and we are both parents, I think I can share a bit of my thinking process. The school district is the first thing I will heavily focus on no matter where I live since I need a good Pre K to High school for my kids. Then, I will also pick the place where kids can easy access lots of great colleges/universities. I don’t want to have a hard time to support them when they leave home the first year. (It is great If they can handle things themselves.). After that, I will also consider how my kids can find internship opportunities during the regular school terms, or at least easy to find a great community to join the project. I love California because of the Technology sector, the non stop learning (yeah! We would still go to evening classes twice per week if not covid! Now the online cohort sprint is quite good.) The good weather even we are in a drought for 3 years. The housing market is definitely crazy but it also present huge opportunities. For Texas, it does catching up but they don’t really friendly with outsiders if it is too much. I don’t know about Seattle but I don’t like the weather for sure. (Sleepless in Seattle!)

I migrated to Uk for quiet some years and learnt from those elder Brits “stay at where you born”!
