If a people with as great a culture as the Chinese think that learning a traditional Armenian dance is worth doing, then I can be even more proud. Fantastic dancing guys, well done and thanks!

Thank you for your reply. Could the instructor be Tom Bozigian perhaps (he is known to teach line dances)? I commend & applaud you for teaching Armenian line dances. The dance company I danced with (co. is still in existence) not only had a repertoire of Armenian folk dances, but other cultural dances, incl. Arabic debke, Russian, Georgian, Spanish, Indian, etc. Not very many cultures teach/dance Armenian line dances--you happen to be the 1st one I've seen so far. And to that I say BRAVO!

thanks for that, I learned the dance from an Armenian folk dance tutor when he visiting HK having workshops in 1980, steps might varies from place to place, I think the main point is having a view on nation's culture through folk songs and dances, Pompooreeg = Pompouri, steps vary each other, but the basic steps are similar. Happy Dancing !

"gpknh" - I have danced Armenian folk and line dances since the 70's. The 2dances were performed very well, but I need to give you 2 corrections to the Tamzara (according to how Armenians do it in Calif.): 1) the steps coming backwards (after skipping forward) need to be toe & heel, rather than heel & toe; & 2) the steps going right need to be in 4 set of 2's rather than 2 sets of 2's (it's an 8 count). I can't comment on the Pompooree b'cause it's different from what I've learned. Good job!

marmar0826, the instructor is definitely of Asian descent. I don't think it's Tom Bozigian. Awesome video...Thanks for posting!

Congrats to these dancers... Not an easy task to dance this. JOKE:: so an asian teenager is working in Glendale, CA restaurant (about 90% Armenian for those who don't know). An Armenian goes in for lunch, the asian says "Barev dzez, hametsek". The Armenian looks baffled and asks the manager how he got an Asian to speak Armenian. The manager says, "shh, they think its English"

Lori, no need for a conspiracy. You may not be aware of the existence of international folk dance groups all over the world. Armenian, Bulgarian, Serbian, Macedonian, Hungarian, etc., etc., etc., teachers travel all over the world, teaching their traditional dances. Google "international folk dance" and the name of your neighboring communities. There may be a dance group near you, check it out.

@lorikelledjian29179 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I like this or not. I guess its good to have others learn about your culture but I cannot understand why the Chinese would. There must be some kind of ulterior motive for them. They generally dont do anything without some reason behind it. The dances arent really traditional. He did some different steps there. Strange.
@amosbenjamin69839 жыл бұрын
They are Armenian descendants. There are many in China. As well as almost all nations. The Chinese govt would not approve of this.
