love to be that guy. the puzzle itself was not hard, it was the dark magic prohibiting him from solving the puzzle. Hence, when yugi solved the puzzle, it was remarkably easy. Yugi too, spent years trying to solve the puzzle. it wasn't until the tides of fate were in the right place yugi was able to solve the puzzle.

Yugi solved it within 8 years. Kaiba's technology said that it can be made within up to hours. But this mad lad, this man solved it in less than 8 minutes.

Well, initially no one knew how the Puzzle fits together and everyone afterwards had a reference image of how the finished piece looks. Plus, Yugi was able to rebuild it in moments from memory while in a burning building.
