Reading your comments just... makes me think that... No wonder HK is different... and it is gone... It is like, it means that they are relying on others to raise their own families. If you think about this. This isn't how the UK's politics and policy works, and I am sure that this family knows it too....
@laguana15279 What did the Royal Family have anything to do with the opium trade? The most you can say is that the British Government allowed or even encouraged the trade, which was conducted by private companies, especially the East India Co., Jardine Matheson, Dents, and the Lee's.

@@hkhistoryw5062 : Well.. then why are netizens from Singapore or even from Malaysia, keep insinuating that it was the "white British"... Er.... this video alone, specifically and literally have told "who" literally did the dirty deeds... So.... Now, it was under British colony, but it wasn't necessarily the white British that traded. So this video stated that it was a Cantonese (their original hometown) that traded and was the "Tai Pan"..... (大班) .... Wow.. this is kept hush hush. I never heard of this family in the English media about HK. It's always from the ones that they know only.

Vivienne Poy was the Chancellor at the University of Toronto from Dec. 2002-2006. I remember watching her handing out certificates to graduates on stage. At that time I wasn't aware that she was also a senator and the descendant of a Hong Kong rich family. However, Canadians are much more familiar with Adrienne Clarkson, a former CBC journalist and former Governor General of Canada. Only from this film I found out that they are related to each other.
