I'm with you. My extended family had 4 returnee Chinese in the 1910s & 1950s. Three were killed during the rebellion against the Nationalist Government in 1927 & honored by the evil CCP regime as martyrs. The surviving one was purged during the chaotic Cultural Revolution. All of them returned to their birth place before I was born in the then Malaya. I was taught or indoctrinated with leftist ideals including Mao's rubbish literary works in mother tongue classes in an English medium secondary school though these works weren't part of the syllabus. My teacher had his mindset very similar to ours that's anti CCP 20+ years after I left school. Though I'm literate in Chinese Language. However English is the only working language throughout my career. No other language. My awakening began after I went to Spore for further education in 100% English. My late uncle that had visited my dad in the 1990s was a CCP party secretary of a hospital. I was told by him that the hospital director was his subordinate. It was shocking to me when learned about this. In 1999 my parents took me to their birth place to visit all the surviving uncles aunts cousins etc. My paternal grandparents passed away when I was in my teens(before Cultural Revolution ended). The number of government servants in the CCP regime could be larger than that if Msia in percentage of population as it has a dual system. However no one could give you a true figure as the system is completely non transparent. The CCP sympathizers wouldn't believe this as the they were indoctrinated. Among my ethnic Chinese classmates those that are illiterate are immune to the CCP indoctrination which is conducted in Chinese Language. Because of this the loyalty of ethnic Chinese to Malaysia is doubtful esp from the viewpoint of the sitting government.
