The title is a bit of a click bait here but it’s true: Asia loves a good looking white man - it’s sad (about the bias towards white people) but true lol. White people have privileges in Asia. Ironically the liberation experience works oppositely for Asian gays in western countries. (Some parts of) Western countries liberate us. You’re very handsome and wish you lots of joy here. Glad you’re having a great time and becoming more comfortable your sexuality here

Great videos. I’m a Taiwanese who escaped to Australia to be gay in the 90’s. But Taiwan has since became the most LGBTQ friendly Asian country. I hope you had a fantastic time in Taiwan. Australia is also a country that’s worth visiting, hope you’ll have the opportunity to explore it one day.

So sweet and thanks for sharing your story. It's amazing to see how much Taiwan has progressed in terms of LGBTQ rights and acceptance in recent years. I feel fortunate to have been able to witness and experience this during my travels in Taiwan.

Being gay in Taiwan would be different for you than many locals who had so much social and family obligations that made it difficult. You will find many expats in Ximending from all parts of the globe congregate there. I personally found that Gay life is rather louzy in comparison to Bangkok where I was really appreciated yet strange encounters happens. Typical Thai would like me and the westerners use me as a bait to get the boys that they want. There are not too much diversity there in Taiwan as far as types of men there in Taiwan. I still prefer the cruising scene in US, Eastern Europe, and Germany, and Brazil.

Judging by how many of these comments are recent, looks like yt suddenly decided to recommend this video. Could do a Q&A. Questions I'd have: where are you from (which state, if US; big city or small town). What was it like growing up gay (or bi/pan/whatever) there. Was there a sizeable Asian population where you lived. Did you choose Asia cause you like Asian guys, or did you come to like them more as you had more experience with them. What's your experience with dating women. Thought you were a leftie for a sec, but I see the video is flipped!

Homosexuality has deep historical roots in China. Many stories about emperors and same-sex relationships are recorded in history books. On a non-governmental level, people tend to be relatively tolerant in private.

Congrats on finding a place you are comfortable to be yourself and thrive in a community that thrives. I don't see why it has to be different in China than in Taiwan, or in the wester for that matter, when it comes to gay rights. It doesn't mean less rights for str8 people.

You are gay because you were born this way. You did not become gay by being in Asia. Just like I don't become straight because I am in the US. I do have to agree with you that Taiwanese people are one of a kind. They are kind and generous, they don't judge you because you are different. In other words, there are no religious fanatics there like in the US which is full of bigots. I am from Taiwan and have been living in the US for quite a few years now, I would move back there in a heartbeat if it weren't because my life is tied up here with education and employment. I hope to achieve the dream of moving back there one day. Wishing you the best!

As RuPaul's Drag Queen Taiwanese winner Nymphia Wind told Taiwan's former president, Taiwan was also the FIRST country to have a drag show at the Presidential Office and the current president attended last year's Pride Parade. He also proudly reminded the world that Taiwan was the first country in Asia to legalize gay marriage on his inaugural speech. I don't think there's ANY country, Asia or not, can match Taiwan's openness toward LGBT people!

Interesting title. It's a shame that PRC China has chosen communist dictatorship over constitutional democracy. The ROC regime originated in mainland China and flourished in Taiwan. Look at what the Republic of China (Taiwan) has accomplished, it's amazing. The Chinese really lost a lot because of communism.

The word is “allowed,” not “aloud.” Same pronunciation, but different spelling and meaning. (I’ve taught ESL for several decades and NEVER encountered that mistake before!). May I suggest you get yourself a good - paper/book edition - dictionary? “The American Heritage Dictionary” and “Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary of Current English” are both excellent and highly recommended. All the best!
