Out of the composers Naushad was the earliest to spot Rafi and groom him. Rafi was the dominant singer for over two decades alongwith Mukesh. Kishore Kumar came up much later and it is well known that he held Rafi and Saigal in very high esteem.

Why stop at Bharat Ratna, why not also ask for Pakistan Ratna & Bangladesh Ratna also. Once those are given you will ask for Oscar from USA then BAFTA etc Where do you draw the line?? Those who truelly love & cherish Rafi Sahab do not care or even remember which and when and what awards he was given. To them he is BEYOND measurement, giving Ratna will not increase his value, and not giving Ratna will not decrease his value. Only materialist "my mercedes is better than his my house is more expensive than his" type of people clamour for awards and Ratnas. They see and judge people according to awards received type of house and car one has, and how financially rich a person is. For people like Rafi Sahab he is lot lot richer than the richest person on Earth. He lives in peoples hearts he gave pleasure to millions and even after his death he is still giving pleasure around the world. So by giving him Bharat Ratna means giving him equivalent of 100 rupees ( by a politician!!)
