In my journeys back and forth to Ja the most ignorant thing I have encountered is how many people think everyone in the U. S. is rich..and that Americans are stupid.

I hate when people “clump” people together because they are Jamaicans. Welcome to my video 😂. These stories are real. I highlighted “Jamaican ignorance” and I was simply surprised for a place that has data and information GENERALLY at their fingertips they don’t use it. I also do not assume all Americans as I am being GENERAL. These stories I used were also VERY real as I have first hand witnessed them or happened to me directly. I have been told to my face that black people from the Caribbean are NOT black 😂

This video was based on general facts. Everything that Yaadman Etan mentioned in his video most of us Caribbean people have experienced, not only Jamaicans. I do find it sad that people don't want to do research and read anymore. It has become such a microwaved world where everyone wants everything right then and there and do not want to find out anything for themselves. I don't mind educating someone, on where I'm from but it'll be the bare minimum that I'm sharing since I'm usually busy whenever I meet someone that asks me where I'm from, then a load of other questions follows that, which then I tell them google it and read up on it. Jamaica has a long history, as do the other Caribbean countries. So to go through a history that broad its very time consuming. "Out of Many, One people" literally. There's history behind: the flags and what the colors may represent, coat of arms, music produced, national dishes, dialect/patois spoken, races that make up a country, the tribes/peoples that make up a country, different currency used (economy), landmarks, parishes and what villages make up those parishes etc...
@JUSTBEINGPATTI5 жыл бұрын
@@Yaadman_Etan Yes I know that you have experienced that . I am just saying that not all Americans. I have been to several countries and many clump Americans together as being of one stupid mind. But I grew up in a place that is vibrant with different cultures and many people from different Caribbean Islands, as well as spent a lot of time in Jamaica and other Caribbean countries making friends, lovers, and families. So it is just a portion of uneducated people in America and in many other countries who stereotype. Not all Americans. Not anyone in my family and circle of friends. I also know that some people think that everyone from the Caribbean is Jamaican 💀😂😂 And I will repeat that after spending an insurmountable amount of time in Jamaica, too many Jamaicans who have never even left the country have strange stereotypical ideas about Americans that just isn't true too. I didn't think you were making anything up. The people you speak of are just uneducated, untraveled, uncultured, ignorant people. PERIOD. I just cringe to think that this is what some people think represents Americans. Same boat different paddle.

I’ve had the nationality vs race debate with a Puerto Rican (I’m a black American btw) but apparently the people from Puerto Rico don’t know the difference between nationality and race either because she refused to acknowledge that she was a black Puerto Rican (she says there is no such thing) 😓

As a Nigerian, I testify that Jamaican and Nigerian men are always put together when it comes to relationship stereotypes.🇳🇬🇯🇲 😂😂Not all of us cheat

There are stereotypes in every culture but you know only certain elements of Jamaican culture are really represented outside of Jamaica. Bob Marley, weed, reggae/dancehall music and the food. That's mostly it. Also visiting Jamaica for a short time versus living in it for some time are completely different things, which can throw people off. It's not so straight forward on the broad sense as it is a developing country.

Don't forget most of all the popular dance moves in the world are from jamaica. Even though we don't get much credit for them

So far my expeiences have all been good. Most people like my accent and ask where I'm from? Then they ask me how I like being in the US ? Occasionally someone will say they've been to JA or know someone who went to Montero Bay! Nope nothing negative to report.😊
