Kobe and the Lakers would have easily beaten LeBron's Cavs in the finals in 2009. People forget that the reason LeBron has such a high winning percentage against Kobe was because between 04-05 to 06-07 Kobe's team was trash; and between 2011-2016, LeBron was either on the big 3 Heat, or Kobe was completely out of his prime (2013-14 - 2015-16 seasons). However during the 2008-2009 season the Lakers swept the Cavs during the regular season. LeBron and the Cavs would have lost to the Lakers in most likely 5, but at most 6 games.
@Mrballerize
@Mrballerize 2 жыл бұрын
@Mark Good Yeah I think you're really misunderstanding the point that I'm bringing up. I have LeBron over Kobe all time, so I'm not necessarily arguing Kobe is a better player. My main point is in the 08-09 season LeBron and the Cavs would have hands-down lost to the Lakers if they met in the finals. Lol I agree with you on the Pau point. The closest player on an all time level LeBron had was 2 time All star, and all time Cleveland Cavalier Zydrunas Ilgaskus. Outside of that Mo Williams was an all star in that season, but he isn't on Ilgaskus all time ranking imo. Also while you're right about LeBron's stats being superior on an average basis against Kobe in those match-ups; you have to take into consideration context. Like for example, all of Kobe's stats cumulatively dropped on his last 3 years. That's not LeBron's fault, but clearly Kobe was washed when he faced LeBron in those years, and as a result, his stats would dip. That being said; yes LeBron is higher than Kobe all time, but I am certain in 09 he would've lost in the finals.

i’ll try my best to invalidate the warriors one since it happened: played a nuggets team that was missing their 2nd and 3rd best players, poole injured ja in round 2 and he was out for the series, they got to play the d all as luka’s instead of the first seed suns, key injuries in the west like ad/kawhi/dame (just throwing names out), and played an inexperienced celtics team with no finals appearances

The ‘01 Bucks were an offensive monster that season and had swept the Lakers, so it might’ve gone down similar to the ‘04 Pistons, where nobody expects the Lakers to lose. Would it have been more iconic, probably not, but potentially a better series.

In 1991 their players getting hurt to miss game 5… the bulls were already up 3-1 and the lakers were ready to throw in the towel…. As for magic having hiv… the dude won an mvp just 1 year ago, his team finished with the 2nd best record in the conference but were the 2 seed because of the old division rules….. all the laker players were around 28-31 so they were far from being old….

1996 bulls vs sonics the reason The coach didn’t put Payton on Jordan because Payton was coming back from a minor injury and he thought he needed Payton more on offense…. It’s hard to say if the outcome would’ve been different because had Payton had more energy towards defense he would’ve had less energy on offense…. So it’s up in the air….

At least he made the distinction that the Sixers and Raptors was the semi's, a lot of people seem to think the was the Conference Finals. I've also argued with a guy who thought the "Bubble" was a completely different season from the '20 season.
