Also very ironic how they give Laios flack for not remembering everyone properly but all of the clones of Laios were the easiest to spot because of how off the party's memories of him were.

⁠@@diegovera1353 It’s debatable how accurate they were _besides_ those details, since they were removed from the running as fast as they were (even though extra materials say they were pretty accurate, the only one to spot the ‘obvious’ difference was Chilchuk). Also, gotta keep in mind, the others’ perception or Laios being so particular as to be obvious, is _better_ than the alternative of them being too well-made, as “properly remembered” Laios’ would likely feed back into the monster correcting its other illusions faster, based on saying what he would say and committing to actions the way he would. As Laios puts it at the end, it’s a predator that relies on this trick to survive and thrive, it’s _normally_ not nearly as simple as it was for them to sniff them out (even accounting for them letting paranoia take over when they were down to only three duplicates).

This theory surfaced on a Japanese discussion thread. The reason the shape-shifter abandoned its illusion wasn't solely due to Laios' incredible barking skill but also because it could read a person's mind. By diving into Laios' thoughts, the creature saw his perfect self-image as a dog (or dogs)! So, it recognized Laios as a hunting hound and launched a direct assault with all its might. After all dogs can detect shapeshifters through their keen sense of smell.

A quick addition: The stoic Marcille, created from Laios' memory of when she resurrected Falin, is depicted with loose hair. This detail contributes to the impression of her determination, as she typically values her hair greatly and wouldn't mess with it unless for a significant reason. The scene where she unties her hair was cut off from the show, but it remains a memorable panel for us readers. Throughout the series, there are numerous instances where her determination is reflected in her hair, so I thought this was a nice addition to make for better understanding of her character :)

Falin was Right Laois can impersonate a Dog Perfectly - Here is a fun fact with Marcille which if you notice that though out the series so far she has changed her hairstyle ever so slightly - This version of a Shapeshifter has traits of both the Kitsune when is transformed into that canine form has multiple tails & Tanuki when after defeating it the food transformed back into leaves which Tanuki use to trick people

Having a neurodivergent boy like Laios in the party is the perfect defense against shapeshifters. He'll get details right that nobody else does, but also forget details that makes anything from his own mind obvious. While our boy got flack for not paying attention to equipment, I feel like he should also get credit for actually seeing all his party members basically as they were. Unlike the others, his Chilchuck and Senshi had no real height differences from the real deals and were physically quite on-point. As the only member of the group with knowledge of her spellbook, the Final Fake Marcille should be from his memory too. Which means that he genuinely thought of Marcille as someone who cared deeply for his sister.

I never thougt of that but it makes so much sense! And the fact that our Marcille criticized the fake for having "fake grammar", not for fake made up vocabulary like you would expect (because Laios started to learn those words, so he struggles with pronounciation, maybe the syntax but he does know the vocabulary)

Chilchuck is my fav. He's chill. I love good boy Laios, best doggo. So brave and loyal! (when you start to see him as just a big dumb loving fluffball, it fits his character 100%) I enjoy all the characters of this show and appreciate all of your reactions.

this episode is fun but some discourse with reactors, mainly due to this episode literally tests reactors how much they payed attemtion to the anime since first episode. the laios acting like dog only handful realize why he did that. from the flashback eps ago on his sister talling falin he is good at mimicking a dog, playing with his sister and they had a dog with them to him respecting orcs fully live side by side with wargs then tame/dominate the,. super bonus point: the hardest to determine which is the real chilchuck was how lax he was. cause in the anime you only get mentions of half foot life and mindsets, vs the manga it goes into detail; from side chaps on them very cautious of danger. from the adventurer bible that shows his early years as an adventurer the group he joined with them saying they pay him after which he felt something off about them so one night he hid elsewhere and listen in. the party leader mentions the runt must of learned their plan to use him as bait for succubi. while they drain his essence they come up and extract the liquid from them which is high in gold cost when sold.

Fun fact: In supplementary materials, we find out how each of the party member’s memories affected the doppelgangers. Laios Marcile: His memory of her hair is vague but he vividly remembers her determined expression when resurrecting Falin. Chilchuck: Pretty accurate, although he didn’t realize he wasn't wearing a scarf Senshi: Also accurate, other than a blemish in the helmet. Marcille Laios: She heard that he looked just like Falin, but I guess he was too masculine for her gay ass, and the first impression stuck. Chilchuck: He is infantilized because she can’t comprehend that he’s an adult Senshi: His stature and height are slightly exaggerated because those traits left the biggest impression on her. Chilchuck Laios: His weirdness is VERY exaggerated because Chilchuck is weirded out by Laios. Shocker. Marcille: Not much to say other than the hair is sorta accurate because he likes blond hair but doesn’t remember the specific hairstyle Senshi: Is more handsome because the masculinity of dwarves is a trait idolized by a lot of Halfoots. Senshi: Laios: Twink Laios because tall men are viewed as more feminine in comparison to dwarves. Marcille: Botox Marcille because he had been told at a young age that elves were bad so he has subconscious racism against them. Chilchuck: Babyface Chuck. He’s infantilized by Senshi similar to Marcille but worse. He legitimately thinks Chilchuck is only a child.

Fun facts from extra chapters + plus a little thing that was in manga but was cut Laios is wrong about rice being Shuro's favorite food, he was just assuming. Also, their first meeting went like this: Laois saw that guy minding his own buisness, went up to him and said: "Wow, you look wierd, where are you from?" Next: one of the bonus pages shown who is the source of each of shapeshifters: Handsom Marcille was spawned by Senshi. He grew up around racist dwarves, some of their ideas about elves rubbed off on him. Senshi also thinks that Laois and Chilchuck are teens, his versions of them look very young. Half-foots find dwarves very attractive, so handsome Senshi is made by Chilchuk. Laois is the only one in the team who actually read Marcilles magic book, so shapeshifter made by him is the only one with real looking book. Also, he was really impressed by how stoic Marcille was when they were resurrecting Falin
