One thing guys. The gambling addiction isnt what defines protagonist Gi-Hun. He worked for 10 years at one of the biggest Korean car companies and was fired without his fault. On the strike his co worker died infront of his eyes and he couldnt make it to his child’s birth. After being cut by his company of 10 years its hard to find a job obviously. So he opened his own business that failed, another one failed too. He is just a guy that got incredibly unlucky. Then after losing all his hard earned money he turned to gambling to get back his life. While he is partly responsible for his situation life just screwed him hard. He isnt some gambling addict that lost it all due to bad habits. And that what makes him so relatable. He is just a dude that had it all and then got dealt a bad hand. A chain reaction until he found himself at rock bottom.

Also one more thing, the way my man on the right figured out so quickly that the reason he checked for the individual file was to see the picture was impressive. In Korea theres tons of people with the same name because literally half of the Korean population’s family names are “Kim, Park, Lee” They are not blood related but these 3 names are incredibly common. My man quick to understand it might be more common in other cultures. And both of you exchanging ideas and understanding the characters is entertaining, dope reaction on a dope episode

i think it's heartbreaking knowing gihun's story, especially with the ptsd from the protest :( i remember in episode 2 his wife was mad at him that he wasn't there when their daughter was born and he said he was at work holding his dying friend's body... he tried so hard to provide for his family, even tried to start his business and life just kept screwing him over :( he's definitely my favorite character

11:10 shit was really happens about 10 yrs ago in korea. There was a big strike at ssang-yong motors factory and police even used choppers. Ppl are still got traumatized, many ppl killed theirselves cuz of ptsd. Even one of my friend was part of strike. And ssang-yong means double "DRAGON" in english. 16:32 - I don't, for a minute, buy into the idea that this game was built to have equality. They instigated a fight among the players by reducing the food distribution, which created an imbalance. There was no children's game involved here, so the option for strategy went out the window. It was all about brawn. This led to the strongest & most blood-thirsty players getting an upper hand, which meant women and weak men who aren't in a protected group would die. They literally said it in the episode "it's to weed out the weakest", which defeats the purpose of allowing people to play to their own unique strengths. For instance, the Tug-Of-War game allows an opportunity for strategy to prevail over strength, but the whole killing spree was too messy & unpredictable to allow cunning players to have an even playing field. It was lame, and it tainted whatever presumed "fairness" was supposedly embedded in the system.

What 'game' are you talking about? The Squid game competition or this killing spree? The killing spree was not a game. The game master orchestrated this to show that they could kill without repercussions during meal time and lights out. To be honest, it was probably done as a way to thin the herd because there were too many people still alive. It's arguable whether all the games in the competition was fair, but we see it was tainted at least for the first 3 games played.

I mean, random question but how the fuck are they even going to use the money if they win? I worked at a bank, if a client deposits more than 50k at once we fucking ID the account, alert the government to track it, and if we are suspicious we call them and ask where they got the money. Home sale or something sure thanks for answering, "I dont wanna answer" "oh ok I'm going to let you know we called because this is unusual activity for your account. I have to report large sums of money suddenly appearing to avoid possible money laundering, fraud, or terrorist activity." Your not going to stick a couple million dollars in ANY bank and not get fucked. Shit if we notice your depositing large amounts of cash consistently we question you even if its under the 50k minimum. Only way you can do that is going to a Panamanian or Swedish bank with a few connections. You would be stuck having to drag that huge block of cash sitting in the piggybank to your house and pray no one sees you or ever breaks in. Even trying to buy stuff would be hard.
