@ThePlishPlosh3 жыл бұрын
@@Maya_hee the fact that nobody took the time to notice the walls is what the show needs you to believe in order for this to make sense. The killings only happened after lights out, there was plenty of time during meal times/before lights out for any of the participants to look at the walls. They weren't spending every waking second in the dark trying not to get killed. The show needs you to make this leap in logic that none of the participants noticed the walls during their 5-6 days they spent in there, yet have time to build fortresses and get to know each other's names and stuff. If we as the audience could notice the paintings with the limited camera angles and like 2-3 hours of time we watched them in the room, how are we to believe and accept that none of the 100s of participants who were actually in the room for multiple days didn't notice the paintings either?

It's never explicitly stated that only one person gets to win - it's actually heavily implied to the contestants that multiple people can win and share the prize pool (only when the officer finds the old records does the audience even know that only one person can win). So Ali is probably thinking the whole time that he can get out with Sangwoo, Gihun etc. I know personally that I was hoping beyond hope that they could both make it, and it only takes a moment of weakness to get outplayed.

I don't know but to me from the beginning, it's obvious that there's only one winner. They did mention in ep 2 that "The total prize for winner is 45,6 bil..". @@tranductinh2742 On the first episode, squid game was played by 2 opposing teams not just a 1 on 1. That could be a hint that multiple people winning is possible. @revival93133 жыл бұрын
@@tranductinh2742 I mean, when multiple people win a million dollar lottery, the prize pool is automatically split between them. Also there are 456 players which means that the 4.56 billion won prize includes the amount of money that would’ve gone into the big piggybank if every single player gets eliminated. So if we’re going by total rather than maximum, then it would mean that no matter what, the top prize will be an amount of money that equates to the death and elimination of everyone with no survivors, so this point gives more evidence towards there being no winner rather than there only needing to be a single winner.

Editor-san speaking straight facts at the start. My mans Ali was way too trusting and its funny that Sangwoo lying to Ali gets him hated while Gihun doing the same thing to Il-nam isn't seen the same way just because he was visibly showing his guilt lol. They were doing the same thing in the end, only difference was Il-nam was just playing dumb while Ali was ACTUALLY being dumb.
@thedarklightskin3 жыл бұрын
It’s not only a matter of guilt and remorse involved such as someone actually showing that they feel bad for what they did but you can’t really blame gihun given how he thought this man was done for mentally wise so tricking him and put him out of his misery wasn’t the worst thing as opposed to him dying right now and this old man dying later on.

editor should have paid attention to the way Ali was changing his way to talk Sangwoo, he stopped talking formally to saying "hyung" (close friends-older brother for males), he was fully trusting him, and sangwoo betrayed him. remember that sangwoo always helped them out with advices so he really believe him that they could live both of them. sangwoo was always portrayed as a smart man, so Ali thought that what he was saying could work. even when the crazy woman was being a piece of shit, they were protecting them so Ali never imagined being betrayed like this. (remember sangwoo even said sorry minutes ago, so Ali thought everything was ok). before calling someone else a clown for trying to explain something different, pay attention. Ali wasn't dumb, he trusted sangwoo.
@kingdragmire50823 жыл бұрын
That doesn’t change anything tho. Yes him believing that Sang woo was a close friend/older brother rationalizes his decisions after that but it’s still dumb that he came to view Sang woo like that in the first place, at least in the context of the games. You’re saying he’s not dumb, he just trusted him but the dumb thing was to trust him
@alyssasuarez26613 жыл бұрын
@@kingdragmire5082 I think you're also forgetting that he is an immigrant in a foreign country. Sangwoo literally helped him explain most of the games and the fact that he is an immigrant means that he is taken advantage of a lot (like his boss) and bullied, experienced racism, etc., so when Sangwoo showed him kindness by giving him the bus fare and in the games, Ali trusted him because he doesn't get that a lot as an immigrant. It's surface-level judgement to just say that he was dumb for naively trusting Sangwoo when we the viewers picked up on the red signs from looking at the big picture and each of their backstories. It's a deeper meaning showing how immigrants are always taken advantage of once they start to trust someone (and it's also relating to his kind character that in the context of these games, being nice will get you killed instantly, so Ali was already fucked from the start but he honestly wouldn't have made it this far if it was not for Sangwoo, thus, he is the person he would least expect to betray him since he has helped and shown him kindness in an unfamiliar setting; also noting the fact that he called him "brother/friend" when addressing him instead of "sir" like from the beginning).

Though I understand being frustrated at Ali, it's unfair to disparage him in that situation. Ali comes off as unintelligent in the show but a good portion of that has to due with the fact that he's not Korean so there's a language barrier. There's multiple instances where the show displays this. He asked what a circle was, he didn't know what certain games were and he asked what even and odd is. This wasn't because he didn't know what those concept was it's because he didn't recognize what the Korean words for that was. You say forming bonds in a death game is counterproductive. This is true. But almost everybody in the main cast formed a bond. Shit the audience formed a bond and we're not even the ones going through the traumatic experiences. Sang-Woo helped Ali inside and outside the game and greatly respected him. When Sang-Woo was begging Ali was apologizing because Ali had to think of his own family. It's not like Ali immediately gave in to Sang-Woo without thinking of his own priorities. At the end of the day Sang-Woo used Ali against himself. He knew Ali had trust and respect for him, he knew Ali is a foreigner that isn't completely familiar with Korean language and culture. And with that he was able to convince Ali that the game may work differently than it seems.
@akapam573 жыл бұрын

A lot of people give the husband flack for wanting to quit and say it was a dumb move. But it was actually a brilliant move on his part. Lets recall what occurs when majority of players quit as shown in episode 2. If the majority of players vote to quit and end the games; the games are suspended and the living players leave with no prize money, but and this is a very important but, the prize money is split up and divided and given to all the families of the deceased players. Now what is Player 69's wife? She's a deceased player isn't she? Had he been able to convince the majority of players to leave he would have gotten some prize money for their family due to his wife having died. He also could have countered Sang-Woo and the group by making the case that the games would only be suspended and all of you could return and resume playing.

I think that scene made Ali made believe Sang-woo more because he took it as him freaking out as desperation for his life and felt bad, especially considering he looked up to Sang-woo. Ali wasnt dumb, and it makes sense that he got betrayed because he had full trust on Sang-woo, who was the first korean person to treat him like a friend. Dont forget that he was a foreigner in a country full of strangers, and he was getting screwed hard by his korean boss at work. The man not just got treated like a slave and not paid for the work he was putting in that place, but also lost his fingers there as well. No one was helping him anywhere. Until Sang-woo gave him money for the bus, invited him into the team, protected and helped each other, and Sang even told Ali to not call him "sir" so he would feel equal to him. So yeah, even in that short time, Sang was Ali's best friend in that whole country, and the brain of the team as well, so of course Ali chose to believe everything Sang told him. But it is unclear if Sang really saw Ali as a friend or if he was just manipulating Ali the whole time.
