Icon is a really cool character that you should look into more. Imagine Superman but instead of 20th century Kansas farm his spaceship crashed on a cotton plantation in 1839 and the ship was programmed to make him look like the first person he saw... AKA a black slave. Then he lives through like 150 years of history as a black man with super powers but without using them as he doesn't want the attention. That's until Rocket (his sidekick who joined Young Justice) found out his secret and convinced him to start being a hero. He was originally part of the Milestone comic line, a DC imprint but separate universe from main DC which focused on minority characters and was also responsible for creating Static Shock, but was merged into the main DC after a crossover/crisis event.
