Who fujimoto?
@SenseofNoneYT
@SenseofNoneYT Ай бұрын
No, you're right Roshi. Her drawing Kyomoto as a skeleton years ago was part of her existential crisis. It's like life's cruel joke. And Fujino's like "why the f*ck did I even draw this?" Also, I think Fujino didn't really mean the "bad things" she was saying. She just didn't want Kyomoto to leave her. But she couldn't be direct with her feelings. She hasn't been direct with it ever since they first met. So it's sad that Kyomoto never knew that she was the one that inspired Fujino to start drawing again. She's the reason Fujino draws and why she got this far. But it's also why she feels she has to continue drawing the manga Kyomoto followed religiously.

Fujimoto was a huge fan of KyoAni with him saying that Haruhi's VA (who happens to be Makima in the Chainsaw Man stage play) were the reasons him and his friends became otaku. I think it just makes sense to feel a huge sense of loss at the people who inspired you being gone in such a tragedy. I didn't even have a huge connection to KyoAni's works but as an artist I was so stunned that I skipped work that day

For as much as Fujimoto is imo at his very best in this story, the animation and approach to the adaptation is almost entirely thanks to director Kiyotaka Oshiyama. He served as script writer and character designer, and ***practically animated half the film himself***. As others have said, he’s basically a one-man army at his Studio Durian, but he took to preserving the original lines of other participating animators as well, to keep a feeling of raw expression. - This is the perfect approach that a story like this deserves. It’s been quite an important film for many aspiring animators such as myself, and I’m certain I’ll be coming back to it more and more as time passes.

"One shots are like 45-60 pages" Meanwhile Fujimoto writing 2 full volume (150-180 pages) one-shots while prepping for Chainsaw Man part 2. Including one that gets adapted to a movie a few years later. Its wild that Look Back and Goodbye Eri are only side projects while Fujimoto was tossing around ideas for CSM Part 2. Dudes a real goated Mangaka.

I believe that if we were to give the honors, we would give them to Shihei Lin, the editor of these mangas. He was the one who brought together the "dream team" of mangakas and Fujimoto was very lucky to have a very experienced team of assistants. Of course, this doesn't take away from its merit, but the work was more mutual than unilateral. And that's exactly what Look Back is all about, everyone is better at something, whether drawing scenarios or building the narrative, the combination of everything makes the magic

if you are confused i think theres some context to be made that hasn't been really confirmed but hinted at by fujimoto in interviews and the way chainsaw man is currently downgraded in terms of art so when making chainsaw man fujimoto had alot of assistants to help him with backgrounds and one of those was tatsu, a background artist and assistant, who later went on to pursue own work known as dandadan. once tatsu left fans started noticing a decline in fujimotos art and no one exactly knows why, but it is speculated that he felt no urge to draw anymore and wanted to focus on writing per interview just out of boredom, because tatsu left to pursue dandadan, or both. i think it's likely both since you can point out tatsus art in chainsaw man before he left and fujimotos art style has changed to accustom to being burnt out. and at the end of chainsaw man part 1 (there are 2 parts of the manga currently), fujimoto took almost a two year break and made this one shot look back which is around the time tatsu left or likely even before. fujimoto has said before how he appreciated tatsu and his art so much and the two girls in this movie are i believe fujimoto and tatsu's friendship and what fujimoto thought of him.
