Too bad you couldn't sail all the way, but the level of detail in your videos is really outstanding. A sincere vote of thanks from me.

Sir, your teaching has clarity and the videos are really well made. I'm preparing for my OOW level exams and sail bigger ocean going vessels and I find these videos extremely helpful to reinforce the concepts and sometimes they clarify as to what to focus on. They also motivate me to carry on and put in more effort and achieve higher standards! Waiting for Aids to navigation Part 2 also. Would you produce that soon? Thank you so much for the teaching.

You're most welcome Mr Duncan! I cleared my Chartwork exams and indeed all others. Just have one more oral functions remaining and then I'll be good to sail! :)

Hi Duncan. Arriving at 19:30, using the hour of tide 19:50 is a differnece of 20 minutes... which is 2/3 or 66%.....where do you get 75% from please? Many Thanks.

Sorry, didn't spot this. I don't know the answer the question at present. I will have a look at the video. I am not infallible.

Very thorough guide to this passage. What was the thing you were doing with the tracing paper? Is there another video on that somewhere?

I was working out the set and rate of the tide as I crossed the channel to see whether it would set me east or west of the destination point between Alderney and Cape de la Hague, in case I needed to allow for this and shape a course to steer. Because ending up downtide of the destination round those parts means usually quite a slog to get back to where you want to be. If you take 12 hours to cross then the east going tide cancels out the west going tide and there is no need to shape a course to steer.
