I am an American Jew from St. Louis. Jerusalem of Gold does not make me weep - it brings me to my knees, sobbing. Every time. A primal calling. I don't know what else to call it. My son is in Israel right night. Tomorrow, he stands on the soil and breathes the air of Jerusalem. I stand with him, in spirit. And with all who left such lovely comments on this page - amid a global surge in anti-semitism. You are the hope, the light, in this song. Thank you.

I had this song in my head over the past two days. I had the exact reaction as you, Brenda. It was as if my heart was breaking and longing for Jerusalem simultaneously. Every time I come back to Jerusalem, I automatically head for the Kotel, as if drawn by a magnet. Praying for your son tonight and all soldiers tonight and always until this war is over and we have victory and peace once again in beautiful Jerusalem.

Where did that come from. I must tell you I am a little shocked by that comment. Of course we have anti - Semites in Ireland but they are few. I certainly am not one of them, far from it. I support the Jewish people and Yad Vashem in particular. Some Irish people have a problem with the Israeli policies towards the Palestinians but so have some Jews. All governments must be open to criticism both internal and external. If you look for anti - Semitism you will find it but you will also find anti - Irish if you look for it. Anti - Semitism and racism are evil. I notice you fly the Star of David but of course you may not be what you suggest. Jew, Christian or Muslim you will find that the vast majority of Irish people wish all our brothers well.

The pale people that are in the land now, for the most part, are the decedents of japheth and esau...not Yaaqub. Old slave maps, section of nigeria as the" Kingdom of Judah". That is just how many jews were in nigeria. Yahuah is allowing His people to arise after many years in slavery and oppression under the heathen empires. Read Deuteronomy 28 Jeremiah 31 Isaiah 10 and 11 Joel 2 Zepheniah 2 The true jews are now being visited by Yahuah, and He is going to deliver us and gather us together, subdue our enemies, and cause them to serve us, and bring us to Siun, if we return to the agreement through the shed blood of Yahushua Ha Mashiach and vow once again to care for Yahuah with all of our heart, nafash, mind, and resources as well as one another, even as Yahushua Ha Mashiach our King cared for us, and played down His being for us! We Jews do not need evangelicals and messianic filth dogs here@@PatrickBijvoet
@veritasardens65478 ай бұрын
@@PatrickBijvoet Good for you because God's Word says "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you" a promise passed down through the Jewish patriarchs to the Jews. Sadly, the papacy has always had a traditionally negative view of Jewry because Constantine wanted to separate Gentile Christians from their Jewish roots because of his Roman hatred so he gave Roman Jew hatred a new reason - that of Christ killers (when actually Gentiles were also responsible for Jesus' crucifixion along with some Jews), also present day Jews cannot be held accountable for what a few Jews (not all) did along with Gentiles in those times, that too in line with Bible prophecy. Hence, we are called to bless Israel in the Bible and pray for her peace.

You're apparently not aware that the site of Jerusalem is equally sacred to all 3 Abrahamic religions, and they all have a historical claim to it. The wailing wall which is said to be part of the Great Temple, the Golden Mosque, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre etc. So instead of fighting over who it 'really' belongs to, if we wanted it to TRULY be the 'sacred city', it should be like the Vatican. Completely taken out of any territorial and political context, to just exist on its own ; for Jews, Christians and Muslims to worship together.

Finally, after two thousand years the way from Jericho can be traveled on foot again like it was on the day Joshua the Israelites crossed the Jordan River. Amazingly one can go through the Judean Desert that has no rain since the sacking of Jerusalem til 1948. Every time I watch and listen to this video, I cry like a baby, and I'm over 60 years old. This song was first made and stamped on a vinyl record on May 11th, 1967, and was widely known on May 15th of that same year, just 21 days before the start of the 1967 six day war against Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, and right on the 19th anniversary of Israel's becoming a nation. It served as a morale booster for the IDF. The Bible says that your young men will see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. At the time, both the young men's visions, and the old men's dreams were identical, which was the restoration of the "Old City" of Jerusalem to become whole, and come back into Israeli hands. The people, both young and old, saw the upcoming war as the war of redemption and restoration. As I continue to understand that this great nation, the apple of God's eye: Israel is protected by God and by America, I can see why God blesses the USA. It's because we bless Israel. Woe be unto us all if it ever stops.
@rn99403 жыл бұрын
Are you sure the US is blessed now? It went down with the US the last 50 years, financially broke, families breaking apart, moral decay, schools dumbing down, elections stolen, nation busy in race war, caught up in fake issues like gender pronouns discussions, etc. Where exactly do you see the blessings for the USA right now?

One of the most beautiful renditions of this song, the "second" national anthem of Israel. I remember the first time I heard it. Less than a week after the 6 Day War ended, the war I, and so many, expected to result in the annihilation of the Jewish state, the Holocaust of another 2 million Jews. I remember when every public park in Israel was consecrated as holy ground, to be used as mass cemeteries. And I remember the morning I heard the news, and told my mother, in tears, "We have the Wall." Like it was yesterday. This song is a blessing, as is Israel itself. Thank you Yael.
