FT-450 is a FB little radio, as you can hear. For the 550 bucks I paid for the older model (non D) its features (2x VFO, good filters, keyer, and more) replace a sack full of add ons from 60s and 70s, and performs far better. A pleasure to use.

I thought it was only mine which had a problem and received signals above 9+20 with some distortion. From this video looks like they all do this! If you investigate the thing, you'll find out that above s9+20 another beat tone is generated within the receiver, and if you tune up and down, when the main tone goes down in frequency, the unwanted tone goes up, and viceversa. Looks like it comes from the other side if the bfo. You can tune a signal so that the two tones are, say, 500hz apart and hear them individually by narrowing the bandwidth and moving the if shift. Using the ipo/ attenuator completely solves this issue.
