I wish the print on the face looked as big IRL as it does in your video. I always seem to see something in the videos that I could not see in person. Even with cataract surgery and corrective lenses it's still too small! Working on memorizing the keypad layout so I don't have to read it. Wish me luck. 😆

Nothing wrong with getting started on a Baofeng lol. I'm shopping around for a radio to make the jump from my Baofeng to something with a bit more robustness. This FT-60R is my current frontrunner.

Please help me. I was testing my Yaesu FT-60 listening to the frequency 450.750Mhz, and i decided to transmit, at the sane time, with my Baofeng UV-5R on a completely different frequency (462Mhz or so, and the radios were 1 - 2 meter apart or so) and i noticed the Yaesu FT-60 went completely mute on the 450.750Mhz frequency. I thought things like this weren’t supposed to happen on this radio bc of the Double Superheterodyne Reciever. Please tell me if this is normal or not.

Nothing is wrong with the radio. Since your transmission is within the area of the FT-60 the receiver is overloaded so it can’t receive on the frequency you want to hear.

Will this radio tx/rx so much better than a Baofeng? I really don't care about menu options as much as being able to be heard and hear others on repeaters. If they're both only 5 watts why is this so much better?

The FT-60 is built very well and very rugged. The TX and RX outperforms any Baofeng by a landslide.

The uv is an awesome radio for sure, it has the advantage of being jail broken, we all know that, and being a pretty sturdy little radio for 20 bucks, a back pack radio. But in actual field I want my ft60, it's built like a german whore and you actually can unlock these radios too pretty easy but the radio can die if you dont know what your doing. If your serious about ham in the long term the ft is best, it has a significantly better recieve and tx and sounds wayyyyy better. Fucking quality. The uv is something you buy a case of and arm the family. They are both great radios.

I am looking at this radio along with the Alinco DJ-VX50 and the Wouxun KG-UV9PX. Do you have any thoughts on a comparison between these 3 radios?

I LOVE MY YAESU FT-60R!!! IT'S BEEN WITH ME SINCE 2005 AND I STILL USE IT. GREAT RADIO!!!

@@Gruuvin1 The FT-60 was my first HT. Still have it and works perfectly and really easy to program with CHIRP. I have also owned Baofeng radios. I was curious what I could get at such a low price. I found that they last about a year and just die. The second died about a week ago and I am now on my third one. I am not really upset because, at $25, I regard them as disposable toys. But for as long as they work, they work well. Just have to do a factory reset on the newest iteration to use all the features.

I apologize if this is a dumb question I’m new to this kind of stuff but I have a FT-60 I set it to ATC and it’s just static has been for the last half hour am I doing something wrong?

Might I ask what ATC is? Is that the squelch?

@@AI7HE yes I’m my case ATC refers to air traffic control near me is anoka so I tuned into anoka tower on 132.400

@@Sneakyturtle1254 there is a lot more noise apparent on the air band. Either your squelch is to low or there is something electrical near by causing RFI on that frequency.

What still is confusing to you
