Yaesu FT-847 in satellite mode

The FT-847 is capable of VFO tracking (normal & reverse) but it's not turned on for this clip. Once you have your TX & RX aligned and then turn on the track feature the radio itself will auto adjust the sub VFO as you manually adjust the main. Neat feature. I wish more V/UHF multiband rigs had it.

I was just thinking that, guy never uses the main feature of the radio, tracking doppler shift automatically. FT-847 was my first radio and I used satellite all the time, but it was a juggling match with a handheld antenna. At least the tracking feature made it somewhat doable.

Same here, tracking was off. I’m surprised he didn’t have the Doppler tracking on.

What would you like to see more of? Feel free to click on any other of his videos. I don't think this this gentleman is in the entertainment business, sorry if the royalty-free music annoys you, I think it was to mask the callsigns of the contacts, as they did not know they were in a video.

Anybody with the Yaesu FT-847 can confirm.. after the TX mod does it transmit from 460-470.. mine doesnt only receive, but transmits to 459.990
