These are great radios. I have one. I turn it on and use it just to keep the electronics alive. That display on the radio will last you your lifetime.

Thank you so much my friend for putting up this video of the Yaesu SP 20 speaker. Nice QSO’s! Using a Yaesu FTDX 3000 rig, i’d really like to get that speaker for Christmas and now you’ve made it for sure a “top of the list wish!“ I haven’t seen any videos featuring this speaker so I really appreciate you taking the time to put it together. 73 from Independence, Oregon de K7HN

I have had no problems with mine either and also love it. I picked this one up this one second hand for $300 thinking as a backup radio, then found myself using it more than expected :)

I bought mine new back in 93 when I first got my Ham ticket gave close to $1300.00 for it and I liked it so well I bought all the accessories for it before they stopped selling them then I bought a Yaesu-857D and didn’t like it at all then a friend of mine picked up an FT-890 and offered me a good trade and I jumped on it to use portable. My main rig is the Yaesu FT-1000D it’s a nice Radio but I still keep my FT-890’s right beside of it. I can remember yaesu’s ad they called the FT-890AT the little FT-1000D and back in 93 that transceiver sold for right $5,000.00 new but I couldn’t afford one then so I settled for the FT-890 but soon picked up the FT-1000D I always wanted and all the accessories I bought worked for the FT-1000D except the extra power cable and the Mobile mounting bracket lol
