The Kenwood sounds warmer which means more fuller sound. On my 991 I send it to a powered external speaker that helps.

First of all, the rigs do not use the same speaker, so the sound is different. Second, unless you have calibrated the 2000 differently, it NEEDS the PRE to be turned ON. Otherwise, it is not working properly, it is deaf.
