There are other single receiver radios that show an active band scope without cutting the audio. The only reason the 1200 doesn't is Yaesu wanted to give you a reason to buy the 3000 instead. They probably spent an additional $10 in design/production to make it work the way it does, so you are tempted to pay $800-1000 more for the 3000.

I had this radio when it first came out and it was great. I think it was around 1300.00 with a 300.00 rebate. The new FTDX 10 blows it away at around the same price, a little higher I think around 1600.00. The only way I would buy a used FTDX 1200 is if it was around 400.00. I Don't think I would buy any used gear now, new is so cheap. Would you buy a used cell phone? The 7300 is king but now the FTDX 10 showed up and crushed it and the 7610.

Why is it when you turn the vfo to find a peak it stops the audio but when your fine tuning to the exact frequency the scope doesn't once again become active and cut the receive audio?

The DNR works better on this radio than my ftdx10 . Why is it that Yaesu discontinues nice radios? 😢

At the time, Yaesu claimed they couldn't get the chips anymore, but the designs were also a decade old. Yaesu has just refreshed its entire HF lineup with newer technology.

How do you get the scope to stay on screen I can’t figure it out Thanks for any help

Never did understand why Ten Tec (OMNI 7) and radios like this don't have active real time scopes like the older 756PRO. Many signals on in the "grass" you you won't see a spike but you can hear them well....shame they (manufacturers) don't make non-muted scopes..

I have been trying to get someone to give me more information about the AF-FFT scope. I have been asking if after you install the FFT-1 do you have to do a "master reset" to the radio. And I also noticed that your AF-FFT looks alot different then mine. Mine don't have the "M" with the yellow background and on my scope mine isn't solid spectrum across. Mine has a notch and 2 peaks. It looks like to me that you can move the "M" bar left to right for adjustment. I went through all the settings and can't figure it out. Went to other video's and seen where a guy had the full "water fall" on all 3 scopes....Is there a setting or is there something i'm doing wrong?

@@KC5TGTRadiosNMore....Well I called and wrote to Yaesu and they act like they don't care....Actually they don't care....Even their Tech support wont respond anymore, and this was way before the virus thing...I wrote them 4 times and no response.

I see you have the bandwidth of the scope set to -/+40k, but could you tell me what the maximum bandwidth -/+ you can view is?

I was wondering the yasu radios like this 1200 does it have a bass and treble for your transmit audio to set up a microphone?
@KC5TGTRadiosNMore4 жыл бұрын
You can adjust mic gain, and some radios like the Kenwood TS-2000 will allow you to adjust microphone bass and treble not sure if the 1200 supports this. I'd have to investigate deeper in the owners manual. If you ever wonder about the available settings on amateur radio gear visit the manufactures website and download the .pdf owners manual. I usually do that myself and look over options and settings before I decide to purchase new gear.
